computer scientists think this is a hard problem

dining philosophers problem? kick them out of your restaurant if they keep being disruptive

hosting wordpress is easy, I will go to great clown photomatt

joke’s on me, the people who made php don’t think language design is real

go on, tell me the reason why I don’t like php is elitism, and not the way it smells from a language design perspective

no you don’t understand, php is a good language now

fosdem decidedly won’t help you organize and figure out solutions for the current biggest problem in FOSS, by design

fosdem won’t even let you talk about init systems other than systemd and maybe sysvinit, because doing so would inconvenience the assholes in control

you can’t talk about major social problems, and you can’t talk about the technical artifacts of those major social problems

what good is fosdem

fascists have been taking over open source projects for years, and torvalds going in on slop in the kernel with a “this isn’t a social warrior project” made them rally. it was a major victory for them. most of us have seen the fallout from that already, and it’s getting worse quickly.

and fosdem has bravely stood up and decided to be part of the problem

what good is fosdem

you know, it seems like fosdem sucks

yeah this guy looks like he hates letters

“mr beast funded ball 2, an ai startup making the sequel to balls” how dare this not be a joke

it’s impossible to mix in all of the powder, unless that powder is in the form of a pill which alka seltzers

yes as a verb

it is malpractice that most powder drinks don’t do the alka seltzer thing

anyway, remember to upgrade your packages using a vterm running inside emacs

the wonderful revolutionary technology that random people keep having to remind you about in the same way a coca-cola ad wants to remind you that coke owns christmas

I didn’t even have to check their posts to see they’re an AI whackjob, “have your agent run 2 commands for you” isn’t something anyone else says

“or have your agent upgrade” yeah we’ve learned nothing https://fosstodon.org/@anze3db/117474724435779931

nicely, even though J-Bob is usually implemented on top of scheme or ACL2, I’m reading J-Bob programs with no changes other than adding a #lang j-bob line for the workbench

my emacs language workbench almost has a proof assistant! it’s J-Bob, the simple proof assistant from The Little Prover that they derived from the core of ACL2

it’s solving proofs! but for some reason I have to eval the result for it to finish, which is bizarre

the language itself is a very restricted namespace implemented on top of the elisp readtable reader. one day once I have better namespaces, this probably deserves to be reimplemented on top of that

remember, you have to update your computer to shittier and shittier LLM-generated code checked for quality by other LLMs, or you might have an embarrassing security incident!
