I'm sorry not sorry but this is just funny:
Better Auth from 1.5.0-beta.12 before 1.7.7 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability...

My mastodon instance of 1 user is getting hammered to its limits by AI scrapers.
Gigabytes of cached data and bandwidth for absolutely nothing.
Low disk space. Energy spikes. Memory spikes. CPU spikes. Human labor...
The cost is truly staggering, and this is for a single instance belonging to a single, otherwise insignificant individual.
Imagine the scale of resource abuse, theft, and climate destruction across the internet.
Just so people can use a shitty #AI prompt on their shitty site.
Data Centers Are War Targets Now
"Why have we gotten to the point where we have permitted militaries of various states to use civilian commercial data centers for their military purposes?"Reminder: forced password rotation is a bad thing and must be avoided.
Because all the characters will slide towards one side, the resulting distribution will not be random, but very skewed.
so someone has made little flags that say “Trump Cakes” and stuck them in every single dog turd on the sidewalks of downtown LA
Argh, looks like this whole batch of batteries for my insulin pump may ve utterly fucked, they last 2 days tops, whereas usually I'd expect around 18...
like how soon
Elevation Lab pulls its AirTag silencing tool. Good things can still happen, occasionally through the power of shame. Kudos to @glennf on this one: https://www.elevationlab.com/blogs/news/an-apology
Who has a good up-to-date list of active accounts of universities and science institutes here on Mastodon?
This is a long shot, but: does anyone have access to a Supermicro H11DST-B *version 2.x* motherboard?
We (@hswaw) suspect that the only important difference with 1.x is a larger NOR flash for the firmware. If so, a little hot air action would allow an upgrade to Zen 2 CPUs, and get big perf/power-efficiency gains on a budget.
Boosts much appreciated!
This goes out to all of the yoga people. I am looking for either a book or a website with thorough text descriptions of the various poses. I do not want pictures, or audio, or video. I am deafblind, and these things are not accessible to me, and I do not have the bandwidth to run them through a transcription bot such as Aiko. I am not interested in face-to-face instruction and finding someone who knows American Sign Language who can teach me yoga face-to-face is a tall order. There are also other physical issues and I would be more comfortable doing this on my own. I do have the written instructions for the eyes free chair yoga program, but I would like to learn more poses and change things up and do more standing poses. So a nice written description either in a book or on a website would be phenomenal if anyone can point me in that direction. Much appreciated! 🧘♀️
can colorblind critters tell which side is orange and which is blue
not that it strictly matters (the local player is on the left always)
Ooh, apparently #ShadowRun Anarchy 2.0 is out!
I feel like the old science twitter would have a good answer to this question, but let's try here. I understand Eutel Oneweb can/will make a European equivalent to #starlink.
Perhaps even with higher orbits to avoid the satellite orbit pollution.
Is this true? When will it be ready? How do we switch to it?
Yes this is also a question about how we can help #Ukraine.

News: Ukraine Online
Now one of the largest drone attacks in Ukraine. The Russians are trying to take advantage of the problems in the work of Starlink in Ukraine, — Zelenskyi
"In Ukraine, there was no information about ballistic strikes: also, at night Elon Musk turned off our Starlink - because of this, people died
Dang, #PlusLife tests are somewhat expensive, but it's nice being able to know that you're not currently spreading some interesting disease.
Looking for an online part-time job as an ESL teacher. I have more than 20 years experience and am GREAT at teaching teens and adults. I'm on the European Standard Timezone.
If anyone has any leads please send them my way. Thanks so much.
Child A: 6 is the best number between 0 and 10
Me: OK, why?
A: You can easily divide it by1, 2 and 3, plus it's a perfect number, so if you add 1+2+3 together you get 6.
Me: I guess that's cool
A: So that's why it's the best.
Me: OK, but my original question was; are you finished in the bathroom?
When the cataloger of our fabulous new miniature books collection comes by and asks, “Do you want to see something pretty?” you say yes.
