Kansas went Trump +16 in 2024. Mo Chara voice: "It's gonna be a bloodbath."

Citing concerns about misinformation and hate, @ScottishGreens have (Finally!) made the decision to leave X.

They cited Mastodon as one of the platforms they can still be found on, I hope they increase engagement on the fediverse.

So many decades of site reliability engineering yet not one reliable site

On one hand, I love a weird movie made on a small budget. On the other hand, 4chan should never be allowed to escape containment.

Watched Backrooms, and...I don't understand.

It’s time to de-privatize the US government. “The problem is not just that privatization is often inefficient because it adds a nontransparent layer of profiteering on top of government functions. The problem is that government loses basic capacity.” https://prospect.org/2026/10/13/time-to-de-privatize-federal-government

There's something perverse about the fact that the people whom we give the biggest platform when it comes to discussion of crisis and collapse are the ones that have really not had very much experience of it and that talk in weirdly woolly ways that are almost delusional. The writing that we see coming out of it gives the impression of hardheadedness while being the opposite.

Considering that *getting a publishing deal these days* requires an awful lot of privilege, perhaps this is unavoidable.

i've figured it out

the US gov't now overtly wants putin to win.

On that “Passkeys are a trap. Don’t use them” article that is making the rounds, @ScottHelme wrote a fine rebuttal that you should also read, in my humble opinion:

“if attestation is the thing you're worried about, the post's own recommendation pushes you towards attestation rather than away from it!”

I’ll try a pagan friend, thought I, since Christian kindness has proved but hollow courtesy.

Computers are so stupid now. Sometimes my new build just decides it needs to learn about the RAM and won't boot for several minutes. I don't even know what that means or why it takes several minutes. Just a code on the motherboard and a blank screen.

maybe i will try making a modern website, and generate html from zsh instead of sh

My job for eight seasons was to find the most corrupt guys in America and turn their ridiculous evil into television, and I gotta say Paxton is a standout for being *comical* levels of corrupt. I’d say he has swagger but I think he’s just dumb & lazy because the (R) after his name is gold in Texas.
