I put on this t-shirt, which celebrates a defunct band that I loved very much, and thought, Aw, I miss Great News. Then I heard myself and got a little sad about the state of things.

One got a little scorched on one edge so we’ll keep that one and give Ernie the nice-looking one.

I’m making pie for my friend’s birthday and because I want pie.

I thought that the lovely, perfectly cool running weather would not be conducive to shirtless guys. Instead we got the shirtless guys of the "I've worked all summer on this bod and I'm gonna show it off, damn it" variety. God bless 'em.

1:05 is still slow but faster than last time. We'll take that, not that there are any other options.

I came down off the bridge behind a cute young guy and had already resigned myself to enjoying the sight of his calves bunching as he receded into the distance when I … passed him???

#SlowBoizRunClub lookin' at the absolute perfect time of year and weather and just eager to get out there and try to make it happen LET'S FUCKIN' GO!!!

I guess it's International Lesbian Day?

Two in a row!

@billzismyname besides busy how is it so far??? Do you like the new coworkers? Do you have to travel around a lot? Or maybe "get to"? Do they seem to appreciate how lucky they are to have you?

I am the Halloween Grinch.

I have no interest in cosplay. I hate horror movies. There's no such thing as ghosts, and spooky shit is just people assigning some kind of relevance to their vague and baseless feelings. I don't really like "cute kids" being around. Goths tend to listen to way too much dance music. I love candy of course but mostly better candy than that.

I loved trick or treat when I was a child but I'm no longer a child. And there are countless things that other people like that I don't and that's fine. There's all of major league sports! And camping! It's fine for people to like things I don't, but the way adults in the US have gotten about Halloween for all of October is offputting. I am trying not to care but they're trying me.

Folks I know I *know* but chill. Plague has been circulating at very low levels this whole time. It's endemic in some wild animal populations in the US Southwest and every year a few people get it. It's a bacterium and very treatable with antibiotics. It's bad that someone died of it but it's not OH GREAT AND NOW THERE'S PLAGUE. Really, I promise.

(At some point there might be antibiotic-resistant plague and then we can all panic together, but this is not that.)

Oh look. It's everything.

Cropped so you can’t see how clean my stove isn’t.

We went to a different supermarket than usual and I had a plan but they had Belgian endive, which I love anyway but I JUST this weekend learned that there’s a traditional dish in which they’re wrapped in ham and baked under a comté sauce and the plan changed.

1:07 is still slow but faster than last time and that's really all I can reasonably ask for.

Well, plus hot shirtless guys out running, and there were!

Okay, I feel good, we saw LOTS of cute guys out running just now, and #SlowBoizRunClub is ON.

Okay I'd love to finish reading all the mastodon you lovelies have posted since I went to bed but I gotta get dressed and get to Penzeys before they close.

I thought that if I rested a lot for the first part of the day I'd be fine to go out in the evening.

That was … ambitious.

Also, a scene from the vaxxery:

While we were waiting, a woman checked in, and the guy working there asked if she'd had the mpox (he called it "monkeypox") vaccine recently, since it can apparently interact in some undesirable way with one she was getting that day. She was unfamiliar and asked what that virus was related to. He mentioned smallpox and she asked about chickenpox. I bit my tongue.

As we walked home, Tom said, "I could see you restraining yourself from jumping in there." He knows me so well.
