Hey #RC plane folks,

I'm getting back into the #hobby. I've renewed/resurrected my long-dormant US [AMA] membership, and joined a local flying club/field, and a friend is generously giving me his Spektrum transmitter.

I just need to pick a plane.

The HobbyZone Aeroscout S2 BNF looks really good to me, but it's currently out of stock.

My criteria in order of descending importance are:

• Solid landing gear for taking off and landing from an RC air strip
• Largeish (~1m wingspan)
• Floaty / Glidery (not interested in a model Piper/Cessna/Warbird, etc.)
• Pusher prop would be nice

I had a Dynam Hawk Sky (EasyStar/Bixler-style plane) from around 2011-2015, and loved it. I want a larger trainer that's naturally stable (with or without SAFE-style gyro/avionics), and I enjoy graceful soaring, not so much zipping around in a smaller scale model.

Any suggestions? In case you don't already know (or can't automatically tell by the continual existential angst 🤣), I'm located in the USA.

I know some of the Bixler models are still being sold, but I'd prefer to go with something newer if possible.

Also, recommendations for a cheap, light camera that I can stick on with velcro to have videos of my flight (not FPV, just recorded video).

Thanks!!

Hey #NetBSD guys,

How do you set up #WireGuard? wg-quick isn't available for NetBSD from what I can tell. I got wireguard-go to create the tun0 interface, but when I try to feed the config file to it, I get a parsing error:

rld@discovery:~$ doas wg setconf tun0 /etc/wireguard/protonvpn.conf
Line unrecognized: `Address=10.~~~.~~~.~~~/32,2a07:~~~~::2:2/128'
Configuration parsing error

Holy crap, I'm an actual WEEK behind on my fediverse notifications???!? And I didn't even intend to take a break!

I guess I needed one. Last month was a flurry of blogging and tooting. XD

Yo, why does stuff need to be bloated these days??

That's bigger than my third hard disk! 🤦‍♂️

I still cannot understand how the #Android 16 battery usage monitor can be this useless. 🤦‍♂️

everything reminds me of him

My father-in-law asked me to fix his phone. Without him knowing, I went through his YouTube shorts feed and blocked all those obnoxious far-right influencers channels. Then, I restarted his phone. Now there are only videos about capibaras on his feed and he's going mad about it.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single distro in possession of a good live USB experience, must be in want of a homegrown and severely limited partition manager built into the install experience.

Ok, I just realized that Apollo 13 (the film) was longer ago from today than Apollo 13 (the mission) was when the film came out. (1970 -> 1995 -> 2026)

I'm already sitting down... I may need to go lie down. 😄

Ok #Asmiov nerds, help me out:

Can I watch #Foundation, or do I need to read it first?

My only other exposure to Asmiov was the Robot Trilogy, which I loved in High School.

UPDATE: "Survey says" watch the show, book optional.

Ok, that #TheWeeknd song (Blinding Lights) at the end of #ForAllMankind S5E10 was a frickin' banger.

What other flipping amazing music have I been missing out on for the past 25 years?!? 😂

Just FYI, I've been getting a lot of errors when trying to use #Pachli Current with #GoToSocial lately.
It persists even after I clear app storage and re-login to the instance.
