So like, I use Ollama like I have no usage limits, with Deepseek v4.1 Flash. And honestly, I never run out. I use it all day, having it work on Gaming accessibility mod stuff. No I am not releasing anything yet. And I just plain never run out of AI.

Wanna see how awful the new Google Book accessibility is, right on your Mac if you have one?

This runs a real Googlebook OS image in a VM on an Apple Silicon Mac — GPU-accelerated, with Chrome working.

From the ACB:

At the request of Senator Gillibrand, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report regarding disability employment and federal contractors. Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act prohibits disability discrimination by federal contractors and also requires some contractors to take proactive steps to employ and promote people with disabilities. The Department of Labor (DOL) is responsible for oversight of federal contractors' compliance with Section 503. The GAO report found that since January of 2025, the DOL has pulled back on oversight activities regarding Section 503. For example, the workforce dedicated to compliance at DOL has been dramatically reduced, and audits of some contractors have been suspended entirely. According to the report, GAO made eight recommendations regarding the implementation and oversight of Section 503, and DOL agreed with six of the recommendations and neither agreed nor disagreed with the remaining two.

New post: AI Makes Me Happy

https://devinprater.substack.com/p/ai-makes-me-happy?r=bd1s4&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Lol all these Hacker News posts: “AI makes me sad." I'm gonna write a post at some point: “AI makes me happy.” That's an understatement. AI makes me giddy with excitement about what's possible for the first time in, like, ever. Before AI agents, I thought blind people like me, who couldn't code, would never play almost any video game, or have any real say in how we use computers. It was always the sighted people who code dictating what we could or couldn't do, or the few blind people who could code trying to keep up with all the sighted people moving fast and breaking everything like an elephant stomping on ants. And now it's simply wide open. Yes, that means some people will make stuff that doesn't work, but sighted people make stuff that doesn't work all the time. They just don't notice it because they don't need a screen reader.

Blind Vibe Coding
A screen-reader-friendly directory of resources for blind and low vision people who use a screen reader and build apps with help from AI.

This directory lists English-language resources for blind and low vision people who use a screen reader and want to build apps with help from AI, sometimes called “vibe coding.” It covers guides, tools, courses, communities, podcasts, articles, and research, free and paid, for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, and the web. Every resource explicitly mentions blindness, screen readers, or accessibility. Every resource was published or updated in 2024 or later, and every link was checked on 1 October 2026.

From the ACB:

In response to the recent challenges to community integration, a bipartisan House Resolution reaffirming the right of disabled people to live in their homes and communities has been introduced by Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania. H.Res.1586 maintains that the Congressional intent of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act was affirmed in the Supreme Court decision of Olmstead v. L.C. This resolution clearly states that the integration mandate is the law, and that unnecessarily segregating people with disabilities into institutions is a form of discrimination. This resolution also details the history of the integration mandate and its firm placement in the law today. It calls on all levels of government to champion policies that promote community integration for people with disabilities.

ACB applauds this resolution in the House and calls on the Senate to put forward a similar resolution. To reach out to your House representatives and encourage them to sign on to this resolution and affirm disability rights, you can use our Speak4 campaign at this link: https://speak4.app/lp/at01eszb?ts=1790867190

Oh no y'all, I've figured it out. I'm a terrible preservationist. See, I don't want the exact Braille Note or Braille plus. I want something modern that keeps the good UI it UX of those systems. So, what if I had AI pull Emacs, Emacsvox, and Omnivox, then had it look at the UI and UX of the braille note and BP, then create a self-contained system that has the modern, text-based infrastructure of Emacs, but with a pretty, fun, easy interface of a good note-taker on top, with modern stuff like Epub reading, threaded, easy to set up email, web browsing using maybe edbrowse or like a headless Firefox, with the app driving the browser inside, modern calendar syncing, goodness just so much we could do. Just so much pretty stuff we could have if the interface was made for us instead of us having to adapt to everything else. And thus, the ideas for EasyAccess are born. With the tag line: We aren't dumb, we're just tired.

Okay, let's update this Monarch and see what awful things I can do to it.

Gross, definitely written by AI, all of it. "• Verification Method for Trainer: ask the client to prompt a spatial check to verify unit changes." So I tell someone, "Hey, do a spatial check." They'll look at me like I'm crazy and say something like "Dude, I'm not a robot."

iTruVoice 1.0.7 is out with both variants, downloads byte-verified:

I fell off the bus today. I was getting off the bus, and I think I overbalanced or something. Instead of correcting and being fine, I fell. I remember reaching for something as I tumbled down the steps. Then I was on the ground. Since I only have a single brain cell, I spent a few seconds wondering what happened, where I am, and why I couldn't move to my hands and knees. It turns out you can't really become vertical if you're under an open bus door. Interesting. So, I moved to the side, out from under the door. Then someone grabbed me. I heard words, but it sounded like a mixture between Japanese and Spanish. I said, "sorry?" They said they were trying to help me up. It was around this time when more of my brain began to work again. I managed to stand, with their help. They asked if they needed to call 911, and I said I'll just see a nurse. So, I did. My leg was skinned up a good bit, but besides that I'm fine. The strange disorientation and slight queasy feeling went away after a few minutes.

I just favorite anything with meow in it. Especially if it's in another language I don't know. You could be saying “I'm going to eat your face right meow” and I'd still probably favorite it. Lol.

Note to the blind people that always need to defend their OS or something: this is not serious. Awww poor Google. I just got that guided surroundings thing on Android in the Gemini app. But, it's too dark in here! I can't see anything! I need you to turn on your flashlight pwease.

Okay, can you do that for me?

Gemini: Nope, sowwy, you gots to do it for me because I'm just an AI.

Meanwhile, with iOS 27, already having been on people's devices for weeks:

I turn on Scene Recognition right from the rotor, and:

A black laptop with a brightly illuminated green keyboard resting on a small, round, light-wood table in a dimly lit room. The laptop screen displays a dark background with a single, glowing blue circular icon in the upper left quadrant. A white charging cable extends from the left side of the laptop and trails off the edge of the table. Behind the table, a dark brown, plush armchair sits angled toward the right, draped with a black and white buffalo check blanket over its backrest. To the left of the chair, a tall, black, rectangular object stands vertically against a plain, light-colored wall. A window covered by closed white blinds is visible in the upper left background. In the immediate foreground on the left, a portion of a person's leg, clad in dark shorts with a gray stripe, is visible.

Note: That's not an armchair ya kitten, that's a couch. But, same difference I guess, lol. It does have arms. So, an armcouch?

I mean, I'm sure Guided Surround can do better at different things, and being able to talk to it can help guide it to what I want to know, but still, lol, does Google not know that some blind people just keep the lights off?

iBestSpeech and iTrueVoice have been updated. BestSpeech can say y'all, LLMs (pretty much just L L M S), Linux (capitalized, bug fix), and can get passed full width question marks if you ever run into that. TrueVoice has had its volume boosted a little so it sounds closer to all other engines.

Some one is making Silent Hill F accessible to the blind. Audio showcase:

The year is 2030. Blind people predominantly run a variant of NixOS called Blindos, which is running a BrailleNote-alike interface as a desktop environment. Anything we need, AI builds a special Keysoft-like interface for. It's okay though because 30% of the world's population uses Linux anyway through the SteamTop and SteamTop Portable and SteamDeck and SteamGlass and SteamEngine in their homes.

I don't know, dumb idea that popped into my brain.
