There's a dust-up over an AI ad from Bookshop.org. But they didn't use AI; Meta's ad platform automatically created an AI "variation" of the original, non-AI content.

I went to disable this crap in our Shiraki Press ad account, and got served a popup *demanding a reason why*.

Fuck Meta for this. Consent matters. We've just pulled all paid advertising from their platforms.

When you're looking at an account on any social media platform, what are some signals that scream "bot" to you? (I have a list of my own, but I'm curious to see what else I'm missing.)

I don't think many people have the patience and the nerve for this kind of experience. I've done it, and it can be very difficult, but there is no other way I've found to feel as connected to nature as this. It's utterly magical.
