No one has credibly seen or heard from Mitch McConnell in over three weeks.

What does the moon look like when a strong cold front moves in? (Video plays at 0.25x speed to better show the distortion the atmosphere creates.)

THAT'S JUST GREAT. MY LUNCH ESCAPED AND HE'S COMING BACK ARMED.

Very, very few people go as far as I do to restrict our data from traveling. Alex Rosenblat is one of them.

Here is her latest, a bizarre caper thorugh "opting out" of data collection at your doctor's office. Which is basically impossible, unless you are willing to go to the ends of the earth to do so.

Let's hope this kind of reporting leads to regulatory change?

New Jersey pizza journalism is undefeated.

I don't know why, but it all reminds me of this image

There's too much despondency and defeatism in the world. It's so fucking weak. Those who intend malice depend upon us just rolling over

Don't. All of their nasty games, just brush it off

Be like Ukraine:

Fight, you damn motherfuckers

We need to fight

Fight, always, never give up, never give in

If you’re Black in the Americas and tried to trace down your ancestry, you eventually hit the slavery wall, where it becomes impossible to go back any further. This release is going to useful for a lot of people, and me directly.

YouTube paused a full concert with Tom Waits to ask me if I was still listening. So I kidnapped the children of the CEO of Alphabet to ask him if they were still his.

Sam Altmanis upset someone left a recording device in his conference room. I guess he forgot to explicitly opt out of data collection for marketing and training purposes

Hot take: you shouldn't need a PhD-level understanding of statistics and an encyclopedic knowledge of PubMed in order to make informed decisions about medical care that protects you from over-treatment and unintended consequences I'll see myself out

@Kierkegaanks

the universities are laying off

lecturers.

my favorite quote was you have proved you can self learn by getting here, so self learn.

we needed the lecture notes to know what would be in the exam but had a stash of past papers handed down from class to class which did not change much.

many diligent students mental health suffered trying to learn everything.

many who got kicked off the course lost self esteem.

then when you start you are winging it using these books.

"Always leave them wanting more"

we had a lecturer that tried to fit all her knowledge into her lectures.

i think she missed the lecture on lecturing.

her feedback was poor and she was upset.

my thoughts on returning to uni after 15 years.

things have changed a lot.

people make you write long essays for the sake of it.

the life of a phd student/postdoc sucks.

getting funding sucks.

squeezing positive results out of failed experiments sucks.

it is all a bit shit and they don't need to take things so seriously.

fuck paywalled journals.

It’s difficult to admit it, but most bin nights I’m not really in the mood these days. I’m just going through the motions.

I think everyone at work thinks I'm a big ally because I refuse to join any group for women unless they explicitly tell me trans women are welcome
