there can be no ethical LLMs. no matter how much you try to "reduce bias and harm," the tech will still be rotten to the core

"a free AI tool we think you should have"

…no???

the shorts meta's going to shit

why are you having your editor put sound effects with every subtitle that comes up?

do you really think we're that understimulated?

it's fun having this as my "last" pinned post cuz it feels like i'm replying to someone asking "anything else i should know?" at the end of an interview/podcast

has anyone made a list of LGBTQ+ -led open-source projects yet? i plan on trying linux in (hopefully) a few years with an MNT reform next running elementaryOS (both made/led by genderqueer folks), so i might as well stock up on some apps to try out when i get there

not really looking for anything in particular. if there is a list, i'll look through and see what catches my eye. what i was most curious about is a photo editor, a video editor, and a digital audio workstation (DAW). if there aren't any LGBTQ+ -led projects in that area, i'll take any that have had LGBTQ+ folks contribute to it

thanks! #askfedi #linux :boost_requested:

before the pandemic hit, my mom's side of the family would have a get-together at one of their houses, mostly on thanksgiving and christmas. quite a few of them live near each other in NYC

they did it for a few years after the pandemic. idk if they still do it tho

attending a family get-together after years of staying home… but you make a big entrance

here's the song about motorcycles i mentioned. big recommend if you only know macklemore for "thrift shop" and/or "can't hold us"

https://youtu.be/l-uVkrzo8eU

i think it's amazing that someone i haven't heard of since he made a song about motorcycles (maybe a bit later, i don't remember) has come back in my feed as a prominent voice against genocide (and a supporter of landback too!). all the love to macklemore, especially at this time

fuck being "apolitical." fuck being "centrist." fuck trying to "both sides" crises and atrocities

for those wondering why i boosted the post that was already CW'd and contained all the info, i was writing it intending to link to the original bluesky post (which required a login to view), but then remembered someone reposted it with alt text to mastodon

you might've seen posters about a "furry meetup" happening on the 17th at 93 canal street

do not attend

this is bait set up by fishtank, a big brother-meets-stanford prison experiment online "reality" show created by neo-nazi personalities sam hyde and jet neptune, now hosted by bam margera of jackass fame. one feature of the show is that sound alerts and text-to-speech messages are blasted on speakers, no doubt this will include anti-furry messaging. one contestant of a previous season committed suicide due to the stress from what they went through on the show

found from one of the artists i subscribe to on youtube. texas' democratic senate candidate, james talarico, and texas' democratic governor candidate, gina hinojosa, both attacked the trans community yesterday

gina released an ad bemoaning pronouns and declaring them "too woke," and james spoke out against trans athletes in a comment to fox news at the republican national convention

obviously, this is unacceptable. especially in james' case since he's considered a emerging progressive figure. then again, some "progressives" are really just shitlibs in disguise…

if you're in texas, instructions to write letters and send comments to both of them are available in this document:

"have you tried losing weight?"

straight to the tenth circle of hell with you. do not pass go, do not collect $200

has anyone made an XXL size N95 mask, or at least something that can comfortably fit my pretty fat head? i already have a mask that does the job but it (1) gets pushed up due to my double chin and (2) pushes my nose down so it's less breathable
