RE: https://things.uk/@eclectech/115390026867319677

Just got extremely confused when, having a quick look to see if there was anything for an "on this day" post before heading off to bed, I got a Friday Dancers from a year ago.

I *know* days of the week shift each year, so a year ago wouldn't be a Friday.

Apparently what I don't know is that it's already Saturday 🤦‍♀️ 😆 Definitely bed time. Sleep well all when night reaches you :bagpussYawn:

(I think there are No Kings protests planned again tomorrow, so this is for all of you heading out for that. Stay safe.)

Meet Melody.

Melody would like you to look closely at her headgear, and see what happened to the hands of the last person that tried to take her bat away @bethroots

It's Friday! Woohoo!

Got caught up in unexpected work today, so this is a quick 'n' cheeky tweak to an existing dance, spookified in keeping with the season.

As ever, have a good weekend if you possibly can :HumphStomp:

Have had some surprise work thrown at me today (on a Friday, very rude) so Lucy may be the only hattee today, but plan to do some over the weekend 😁

If you've sent me a photo already I should have faved it by now to show it's in the hatting queue, please prod me if I haven't, my notifications were a bit of a mess this morning 😆

Animals will be hatted in the order they appear in my notifications, so please be patient.

Meet Lucy. Lucy is a little concerned about whether she's got the spell right. Will keep trying.

This is Clove. I was looking for a hat for Clove when I casually wondered to myself how the mask would look & now I can't stop laughing.

Sorry Clove. Your eyes stared out so wildly I could not resist.

The basic info for anyone not involved last year who wonders what I'm banging on about.

If you would love to see your pet in spooky headgear, but would rather not actually attempt to do it IRL, this is for you.

Reply with a photo of your pet, I'll add some spooky headgear in the run up to Halloween, and tag you in when I post it.

No AI. Just a silly person in Scotland with a lot of hat photos and a computer.

If you do get the opportunity to take a photo of your pets vaguely upright & almost facing the camera it could help, although I'll do what I can with what you have 😁

Please tag me in to any photos, as that makes sure I see it. I'll fave your post when I save the photo, so you know I've got it ⭐️

It's not a problem if it's not actually *your* pet, all animal friends welcomed, and repeat hattees not a problem. The only thing I ask is that they're your photos - I don't want to be like some crappy AI and just steal random photos off the internet.

This is personal 🙂

Silly, spooky and personal 🎃

PREPARE THE PETS! The time of SILLY SPOOKY HATTING is upon us!

*ahem*

The lovely Czar is starting the season off with a classic star-covered spooky witches hat.

Right. Off to bed :bagpussYawn:

Will do something other than swear tomorrow.

Does anyone fancy a #sillySpookyHatting this year? Could be a fun wee distraction.

Apologies for asking the question as I'm heading off, but I'm doing it anyway as I meant to ask yesterday then forgot.

Night all! Sleep well when night reaches you.

Last one for the moment - Esperanto. There is an ongoing discussion about whether this was the correct choice, and other possibilities, so if a different consensus is reached I can do another, but this was the winner of the vote so...

#theFFSproject #Esperanto

Here's the second Scottish Gaelic, which is a literal translation of "murder!"

I told you they were both short!

#theFFSproject #Scottish #Gaelic

I don't wish to show favouritism but Scottish Gaelic is getting two entries straight off. The poll was 50 /50, and they were both REALLY short, so it seemed like the easy way out. Here's the first.

I fail to have a translation for this, so will edit if anyone can help!

#theFFSproject #Gaelic #Scottish

There wasn't any discussion about a Hindi entry into the collection, so this is right back from the original thread, and if my notes are correct is something along the lines of "for God's sake". I am hoping my attempt to create the script within the FFS style hasn't done anything too terrible.

On this day in 2024 😮

#onthisDayScribbles

I am making a collection of sweary phrases for a grumpy but colourful art project.

The whole collection to date is here:
https://eclectech.co.uk/ffs

I'm after things you might say when shouting in angry frustration at a news headline (where an exasperated "for fuck's sake" is common in English).

The suggestions I've been given for Esperanto are below. If you have a favourite to use in the above situation please vote, and I'll add it to the collection.

I've ended up with a lot of suggestions, and I think it might basically include a list of swear words & variations on a theme, so I am relying on people who use the language voting to pick the best one for the context!

If this has landed in your timeline & you don't know what I'm talking about, the original thread about the project is here

The last few photos were taken at Ardkinglas Woodland Gardens last week, where they have a magnificent tree suitable for #ThickTrunkTuesday except for the fact that I failed to get a good photo of it, mainly due to unhelpful drizzle by the time we got round to it.

Had a vague memory of taking a better one on a previous visit, & it turns out not only have I posted it, but I'd posted it for a thick trunk Tuesday. Three years ago though, so I reckon I can get away with a repost.

Just look at this MAGNIFICENT BEAST of a tree.

Made this days ago, & it's not quite right, but no tinkering is helping. I like it slightly too much to delete, but I'm kind of fed up trying to work out what's needed now. So aye, have it 😁

Damn. Currently looking like I'm going to have to choose my own entry for the Scottish Gaelic entry into the collection, and I should not be trusted with that 😆
