Let’s call it #RejectionDay when Americans buy the millions tell the Trump regime & MAGA/GOP -“Hell no to fascism, racism & you!”
VOTE BLUE FOR DEMOCRACY
1. It’s the end of the beginning of the age of cheap solar. 2026 is likely to be the first down year for PV build, despite module prices of 11-12 US cents per Watt in normal markets, not substantially up from the lowest levels ever (9 cents in 2025 before a Chinese export tax rebate was cancelled).
Corporate news media’s insistence that there must always be two sides to everything--and one of them must be corporate capital--has us at the point where we’re debating whether the most profitable corporations in the world should pay their workers enough that they aren’t so poor they qualify for government support.

Be sure to check out the new ‘Antichrist’ lectures 😱
Tech billionaire #PeterThiel is escalating his attacks on critics of AI, accusing former President Barack #Obama and the pope of exploiting the public’s fears about #AI
In a new series of talks in Nashville, #Thiel singled out the two leaders as he sharpened his warnings about the #Antichrist — a figure who he sees as stopping the progress of technology and advocating for a “one world government” of regulation.

So one time I was hiking along a beach on the Fuca Strait and came upon this beauty, up out of the water eating kelp or something. As I approached it scuttled back to the depths. Quite a thrill! I offer it for #WorldOctopusDay. #Hiking #AltText
"Now that we've solved AI..."
Dude, we haven't solved AI. We've gotten surprisingly good at statistical modeling, but let's not confuse one ingredient with the whole recipe.
For #ColumbusDay: What can Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas teach us about making first contact with alien life?
Quite a lot — especially about what not to do.

Musk explains why Tesla #Robotaxi is not running at night, and lidar…
#Musk says the main thing holding back #Tesla night hours is that the cars have a hard time seeing pets in the dark. His example was “grey kittens on grey tarmac.”
That’s a low-light, low-contrast detection problem, which is the textbook weakness of cameras and the exact thing lidar and radar handle. Musk has spent years calling those sensors a “crutch” and a “fool’s errand.”

USA: "Unknown virus leaves some Iowa patients sick for weeks"
An unidentified illness is leaving patients in Des Moines, Iowa, sick for weeks.
“They’re hanging on to this bug for around a month,” says a nurse practitioner.
Symptoms keep returning, despite negative tests for COVID-19, flu and strep.

"Software developers are not okay"

The software industry is becoming increasingly hostile to those who work in it. The uncertainty is affecting even those who believe in the promises of tech.

Something I wish they’d explained better at school is that skills are transferable and often you’re learning how to learn. I see so many adults complain about how useless learning recorder in school music class was. The teachers weren’t into bad covers of hot cross buns, they were trying to teach musicality, sheet music reading, rhythm and handling an instrument that could be applied to other things in future using the cheapest, easiest to play, hardest to break instrument possible. I feel like the inability to see how learning things might be beneficial in indirect ways haunts a lot of people into adulthood to their detriment
kinda breathtaking to watch the U.S. media establishment lose its shit about one maybe-plague death in a Russian backwater town with 3,887 confirmed measles cases reported in the United States, SO FAR, in 2026
What a bizarre article. It portrays Medicare for All as an experiment and mystery, when it is in fact the mainstream of civilized health care. Michiganders regularly cross the border into Canada for health care. There's no mystery. Medicare for All is proven on a huge scale, for generations.
