I'm well aware that I'm probably romanticizing the human-powered woodworking approaches, and there will be lots of overworked people with lots of aching joints after an apocalypse. But probably also a newfound appreciation for the work that goes into everyday items, and therefore better care, maintenance, and repair of such objects.

Hand-powered and foot-powered workshops will be so popular after an apocalypse. Yes, you won't make a wheel for a wheelbarrow in an hour, more like three days, but it will be nothing less functional than the cheap stuff you get at the stores nowadays.

I just noticed during an update that #GNOME 50 disabled pasting the selection via middle mouse button (the usual X11 behaviour) by default, but you can get it back by using the GNOME Tweaks tool (Mouse & Touchpad → Mouse → Middle Click Paste), or by using gsettings:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-enable-primary-paste true

Also thanks to all the #Debian package maintainers who use NEWS files to inform their users about such important changes! ♥

The article ends with a quote from a researcher: “The fact is, doctors can and do make mistakes without AI [summarizing their consultations]. And it is certainly possible the error rate is worse.”

I'm interested what you think is worse: an AI making mistakes while summarizing a consultation with a patient, or a doctor making mistakes when summarizing it?
