The notion of "second-hand surveillance" (on analogy to second-smoke) seems powerful -- and more generally I really appreciate the idea of zones where one can be free of this.

That said, it feels off/sad that we have to start by creating zones where people are expected NOT to use the pervert glasses, or Apple watch always-listening tech, etc etc.

OTOH, let's start somewhere!

I've warned before that any FOSS project incorporating AI output is doing so at their peril.

Previously people leaned on a federal circuit ruling that was *declined to be taken up by the supreme court* interpreting it as a free-for-all to LLM license-wash any project in translation, or really to incorporate any such materials and they would be public domain.

But that doesn't mean we have an answer! We've yet to see!

Annnnnnnnnd: I think we're likely to have that perspective upended soon.

The third circuit issued a recent ruling in the *opposite direction* of the previously well cited federal ruling, that AI training on copyrighted material is NOT fair use: https://www.courthousenews.com/ai-training-of-copyrighted-material-not-fair-use-third-circuit/

Annnnndddddd.... with a bunch of people trying to make LLM-generated decompilation replacements for Adobe's entire suite, we're likely to suddenly see corporations rear up angrily.

Just wait till someone tries to vibewash a Nintendo game decompilation. Hey, what do you think is gonna happen?

Beware of far-Right entryism into the fight against AI + Data Centers.

'Humans First' is led by Amy Kremer, a former Tea Party leader, co-founder of Women for Trump, and chair of Women for America First, which organized protests in Washington DC on January 6th.

Amy helped create this nightmare.

Blender has a community survey out, about several important topics (including AI usage, project prioritization, etc). Worth filling out if you're a user! https://www.blender.org/news/blender-survey-2026/

For the uninitiated, Bernie Sanders' AI bills are being written by a eugenicist cult full of predators organizing "rape orgies."

Michael Vassar in that list is also the former president of MIRI, the organization closely advising Sanders.

Guys, we can't except our "leftist" politicians preoccupied with the 1% and all that to care about eugenics or sexual assault or cults or anything like that right?
