Sounds like they'll finally ban the carriage horses in NYC. #aboutFuckingTime
NHK report on the physical uses of AI at CEATEC. Japanese company saying their shelf-stocking robot would "solve the labor shortage".
My dude. There are more than 8 billion people on this planet. There is no labor shortage. Xenophobia is a hell of a drug.
I'm old enough to remember when AI was going to cure cancer.
Those LEGO rap videos from Iran are brilliant - not least because the use of AI means that the American environment is being polluted to make them because that's where the most data centers are.
And forget bombs or other dramatic terror attacks - really, all Iran needs to do to attack us is slip into our rickety and depleted not to mention increasingly unregulated food chain.
I pulled something in my back WHILE I SLEPT and it hurts, wtf
Watching the various footage of the ICE shooting in the Bronx on the news and the man who was shot did exactly what I would have done - pull out as quickly as possible - because I would have thought I was being carjacked.
Sitting in CVS waiting for my shots and hearing Time Warp from RHPS has to be the most surreal experience of my life so far.

It's kind of funny how Trump, et al think such a pittance will buy a vote when they know *they* would just take the money and run.
Why on earth is Utah's professional basketball team called Jazz? I can't even imagine of a place that is less jazz.
I have broken down and turned on the space heater, much to Bella's relief.

I can hear at least one owl hooting. Not often that I hear them here!
Today in annoying shit: it's not the humidity that's making my hair go pouf. There is very low humidity today. The actual structure of each follicle has changed, and now I'm going to have to change my hairstyle so I don't look like I plugged my finger into an electrical outlet! Thank you, #menopause 🙄

I should do this, instead of trying to get hired somewhere or languishing in adjunct hell.
For Arkansas, I'd have to do online only because I don't live anywhere near there, but I'll throw in a free bible as regurgitated by an AI chatbot for every student that signs up.
So I got the humongous tree limb from the storm all broken down 👍🏽
Now I just have to get it to the curb so the town can take it away. The unfortunate thing is that today is really warm and humid and I really think I'd be pushing my luck to keep going, so it will have to wait until tomorrow 😕
The logs are kind of long, but I'm using manual hand tools and can't get through the thickness when it's on the ground. The town won't like it but they have power tools and big strong guys and I don't.
I don't have a bird feeder but I leave flower seedheads on the stalks and in the past three minutes that I've been standing at the window I've seen American redstarts, sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, tufted titmice, goldfinches, and a gray squirrel. (No pictures because they're all zippy little buggers who won't pose.)
My cat has developed a strange little cough and I'm worried.
