my take on webauthn (passkeys) is that, as usual, it is the best technical solution to one problem (phishing), and super convenient -- until you run into another, more human problem: "i don't use that browser anymore, how do i log in?"
as a sworn enemy of gravity, if i ever own a farm all the beds will be raised. bending over to pick up stuff off the ground repeatedly is bonkers
on friday one of our engineers added claude tag (whatever that is) to a slack channel, to provide a daily summary of some automated messages posted there
today a dev asked a random question in the channel, and claude replied
"wow," someone wrote, "it's going to be really expensive if claude is reading/responding every message here"
i posted "🍿"
the next post was claude, telling us we're out of claude tag credits.
lol, who would even want to make this shit up?
too bad about that scrapped ev subsidy, too bad it wasn't even higher when it existed

it's all just ACT inbreeding, the same 10 people furiously stoking the worst impulses of old white men.
we should bury them in love and joy and free high-quality government services for all.
co-governance is far stronger than they can ever hope to be 💚 ♥️🖤
reading Dirty Work and folks you would be amazed at how few people participate in and contribute to TU, FSU, and the other baskets of hard right deplorables occupying aotearoa. they think its a lot; to me it looks like a rounding error, especially if you remove the billionaires
you can't fight their racist pro-capital lies with money, but you can definitely take them on with numbers and the truth
duopoly breakup or no, i think it would be fun to start a venture that helps groups do exactly this -- buy produce, meat, fish, dairy, and staples wholesale.
i think the hard problem is logistics - you need to physically pick bulk stuff up from the wholesaler and take it somewhere for repackaging and distribution, before it spoils.
i need more cuzzies with trucks and chest freezers.
you'll know grocery reform is a success when your extended whanau (or church, or urban commune) can register as a cooperative and buy bulk groceries wholesale #NZPol
Arizona raised solar panels on stilts over its crops so one acre could grow food and make power at once — then researchers noticed a third job nobody put in the brochure: skin under the panels runs 21 degrees cooler, in a country where crop workers are 20 times more likely to die of heat

i miss the good old days of deterministic extinction. the president presses the button or not. the asteroid is on a collision course or not.
weighted random armageddon is a mug's game.
the pr is working, i am now deeply curious about all the ways a chatbot could destroy humanity from my browser window

english-teaching partner has begun quoting ai supporters arguments back to them, replacing ai with 'enriched uranium'
as in, the massive investment in enriched uranium is justified by the good it will do for humanity
we have to train our kids to use enriched uranium or they'll get left behind
etc
