I've been arguing with people on facebook because I hate myself and I honestly think the reason so many people vote republican and think democrats are awful is that they have never lived a place that was nice, or a place that was bad, so there's no contrast for them. They just hear "taxes bad" and get mad about having to pay $200/year in property taxes to keep a school open.

Time for my semi-regular attempt to play a rune knight/runewarden/paladin type character in Skyrim T_T

I know chad gibbity is everywhere in tech but I just saw a "thought leader" in another of my areas of expertise use it and then reply to me using something that was very clearly done with it and fml this shit is everywhere and we are so cooked aren't we.

Trying to think of a way to explain to a friend that they keep making the same terrible decisions over and over again without coming across as preachy is very difficult T_T

Overall very excited to have new job and this is more of an exaltation than a shitting on things post, to be clear <3

First day working pizza!

Pros: was just me, the boss, and the owner for most of the day. I had to interact with very few people actually! It was nice! Was actually kind of nice to be back in a dish pit??? TIPS! Owner isn't a white guy (matters where I live)

Cons: Boss is a libertarian T_T One of the deliveries asked me to go inside their house and it was so smokey and awful it started triggering asthma I haven't had in 20 years lol, but boss says I don't have to go in places. Dishes r gros T_T

Every time I talk to someone about why I still wear my mask they'll say something to the effect of "oh wow that's a good idea!" and then they don't wear one lol.

I understood that when I moved to very small town oregon I would be making certain epicurean accessions but maaaaannnn I could not have guessed that they would have to bland up mediterranean food to sell it to the locals.

If you see ads pointing you to votesafe.org to check your voter registration, read this first.

VoteSafe is run by America PAC, Elon Musk's super PAC. It is not a government site. Its own footer says "Paid for by America PAC."

It also doesn't register anyone. The flow ends by telling you to download a PDF, print it, and mail it in yourself.

Its privacy policy (updated Aug 29, 2026) lets America PAC share your info with "business partners" for targeted marketing, or sell it. That includes whether you're registered to vote and "how you submit your vote." Popular Information found your address going to Facebook and Google, a hashed email to The Trade Desk, your usage to X, and a device fingerprint that survives cookie deletion.

VoteSafe also white-labels voter sites for allied groups, including Sentinel Action Fund and Ready to Register. North Carolina's election board warned in July that Ready to Register mailings used an outdated form, went to deceased voters, and had QR codes that could pre-populate other people's data.

To check your registration, use your state's official portal, https://vote.gov, or https://vote.org. None of them sell your data.

I really like ARPGs / Action games with RPG elements but something that's happened over time is that many of them are now about dodging instead of hitting things and boo.

I have started seeing more masks and I'm unsure if I should be excited or terrified people are taking covid seriously.

Trying to respect the sentience of creatures in my Mississippi River Delta Fantasy Kaiju setting but also I really like the idea of Kobolds running around like flamingos as they worship ephemeral dungeon monsters T_T #Worldbuilding

So, the deal is that spooky business and shady business look extremely similar, and provides a low intensity opportunity to say to yourself, "huh, that's weird as heck" without thinking anything is wrong with you. You didn't fall for anything! Just doing your job! But this is Weird as Heck! And a lot of people are really, really bad at noticing patterns in things that are weird as heck, in ways that are very detrimental to their lives.

I think everyone should have to work on something spooky adjacent that you know you can't really talk about. (I'll expand later lol)

I want to run events again. I do not want to run magic. I do not want to pay rent. I do not want to deal with people who don't actually like the games they are playing. I do not want to deal with people being weird about masks. But the desire persists like a bad habit.

Season 1 of Dexter was so good, it makes it hard for me to rewatch the other seasons lol.

I knew people that punched people for a living and much of their day job was lifting and even they wouldn't say they could lift 500 lbs. Like plz plz plz be serious.

Being a nerd that did sports in his youth/young adulthood is really annoying because people will make claims like "oh yeah I bench 500" and it's like my brother in Christ I know we're all selling a fiction here on the internet but pick something reasonable.

I can understand, in theory, even if I disagree with it, the idea that people should be responsible for their own health care.

But people will argue _for_ health insurance carriers like they provide a net good and excuse me what the fuck.

As I sit staring at this blog post in my drafts, a gentle reminder that the people encouraging you to buy singles over sealed in your casual tcg play get paid by people who's business is selling singles.
