Now that many people are aware that the group calling itself Gaza "verified" is indeed a scam, I want to point people toward actual, credible registered charities that genuinely want to help — and already have helped — people in Gaza.

Because, yes, unfortunately, Gaza "verified" was a scam. But that does not mean the suffering and tragedy of the people of Gaza was not real. It is very much real, and there is indeed a need for humanitarian aid.

If you missed it.

As you may know, for over a year now, I have been trying to warn people that Gaza "Verified" is a scam group.

Imagine this — you're new. You just made your first post. No one knows you. You didn't use any hashtags, so no one can easily find you either, since you follow no one and no one follows you.

But ironically, these same people like and boost the first post of everyone who creates a new account claiming to be from Gaza "Verified". They claim to support Ukraine, but wouldn't you know it, they're offline right now while Russia is having problems.

Now that many people know that both Israel "verified" and Gaza "verified" were scam groups — which I have been saying all along with previously shared, growing evidence (photos, videos, documents, etc.) — I am a little annoyed that it took Russian data centers being bombed to convince many of you... but I digress.

Let's try this again... Now that some of you have finally come around to accepting that the scam groups calling themselves Israel "verified" and Gaza "verified" were indeed scam groups, it would be unfair to forever hold you on a block list. I believe in redemption, and I know people are capable of learning from their mistakes.

So, I am setting up a simple appeal process to be removed from the public block list. It is really simple.

Make one (1) public post admitting that Linux Is Best ( @Linux@fairy.id / @LinuxBSD@mivatter.com ) — that's me — was right, and share a link to the block list. The post must remain online and public for a month. It must include the hashtags #GazaVerified #IsraelVerified #Scam #Spam #Fraud #Fediverse #Russia #Bots #LinuxIsBest. You're free to add more hashtags if you like.

This is something bad-faith actors are not likely to do. And the argument of purging everyone is illogical because there are scammers, spammers, and bad-faith individuals who should be blocked by myself and everyone else.

Let's take a moment to explore the concept of my block list.

"Billy Bob" is like:

"I like child porn and share photos and videos of child porn."

So naturally, Billy Bob ends up on the block list. But along comes "Mary Sue," and she is like:

"I support Billy Bob, and I am going to like, share, and boost Billy Bob's post."

So naturally, Mary Sue ends up on the block list. Then along comes "John Doe," and he is like:

"It is completely unfair of you to add Mary Sue to your block list! Mary Sue is not Billy Bob — and so what if she is liking, sharing, and boosting Billy Bob's child porn post? I do not believe anyone should use your block list, and I insist that people should block you instead."

A wise person sees the problem and knows why all of these people are now on the block list, and why anyone who claims the block list is unfair should also be on the block list. No one should be defending child porn, nor the individuals who like, share, and boost child porn posts, nor should they come to the defense of such individuals while denouncing both the block list and its creator.

I am applying this exact same logic to scammers and spammers. It is not a hard concept to understand, and it is not unfair either — unless you are pro-spammer and pro-scammer.

(Speaking personally, I see scammers as just as bad as pedophiles, because they too often prey upon the weak, vulnerable, and defenseless. Scammers are known to target the young, the elderly, and the disabled.)

I have admins who I have reached out, and they all say the same thing. They believe me. They know there is a problem.

But they're all fearful to speak out or do anything.

That's not cool

#FediAdmin #MastoAdmin

If you missed it, someone majorly messed up.

An admin from another Fediverse site noticed someone pressuring a user for money — a predatory tactic often used against seniors and disabled individuals. When the admin reported this behavior privately, another admin or moderator retaliated by mass-reporting a bunch of their unrelated posts. Many of these were completely harmless, featuring photos of cute bunnies and animals.

The goal was clearly to trigger a snap judgment from moderation tools. However, that moderator didn't realize they were false-flagging a fellow admin on the Fediverse.

RE: https://mivatter.com/notes/arm1h07f6a

Not all admins/mods are good people, and sometimes you get proof of that fact. That includes taking advantage of the elderly and disabled.

The scam group known as Gaza Verified continues to do what scam groups do. That includes pressuring people — especially the elderly and disabled — into giving them large sums of money.

Unfortunately, reporting this behavior, even when it seems obvious, may not personally win you any favors, as someone recently learned.

The Fediverse has a scammer problem!

Concerned user:

" Linux have you seen this guy: USER NAME @ mastodon.social?

He seems to be giving a lot to these accounts. I had a look at one of them, and he's given just one of them over £4k in about a month
(eg: https://chuffed.org/project/184394-hanadi-is-a-nurse-graduate-who-need-help-for-her-family).

I hope he's loaded, and he's giving wierd amounts, £9, £8, £50 and then lastly £500! 😕 "

Me:

" I already have them on my block list because they were boosting the scam groups post and trying to help them raise money. They're one of their so-called supporters. Although, I haven't yet updated the GIT. The next update will have over 50 or so new accounts. "

Concerned user:

" Linux :( he's giving them serious amounts of cash even though they keep guilt-tripping him :(
I did msg him to be careful, but never got a reply.

When I reported https://ieji.de/@hanadinurse88, and told them to stop harrasing the USER NAME guy, some modertor from leji.de reported me, just tagging random posts from me in the report... weird! "

Me:

" That whole domain is in my blocked domain list for a reason. There are some sites that are complicit and other sites I suspect are in on it. The Internet and by extension the Fediverse is anonymous, and just became someone is a mod or admin, does not make them a good person. "

Me again:

" post 2 of 2 (follow-up)

It seems they have removed hanadinurse88, but since they also reported you (to you, not knowing you are the admin of your own site), you see what I am dealing with.

Many scam groups show two sides... a legitimate side and a scammer side. It is how they manage circumstances to their advantage and manipulate moderation systems to evade accountability.

You did the right thing, and it was obvious, so someone couldn't ignore it. But you were also inconvenient to their operation, and so you were reported for voicing yourself.

Am I the only person who never caught COVID?

Maybe it's because I isolated myself from the public starting in late 2019 and began working remotely. Maybe it's because almost everyone I knew outside of my family passed away, leaving me with very few people to visit. Or maybe it's because I got every vaccine available as soon as possible.

But here we are, nearly at the end of 2026, and I am still COVID-free.

Let's look even closer at that video — setting aside the obvious conflict of interest — and actually dissect what’s going on.

1st, notice how the person is deliberately holding a pair of brand-new crutches while sitting comfortably. The whole point is to project an image of vulnerability, implying they're injured.

2nd, look at the window: it's a solid, fully framed fixture. In fact, it’s the exact type you’d expect to see in a basement — heavy enough that they have to use a stick to prop it open.

3rd, if you think they're in a tent, look again. Not only is there a rigid, framed window, but those moving "walls" aren't a tent at all; they are brand-new bed-sheets with the fold creases still visible. They’ve been tacked up and billowed by a fan to simulate movement. Yet, for a brief moment, a drop-tile ceiling enters the frame.

Gaza Verified 's own videos speak for themselves.

The so-called spokesperson, you learn, doesn't even speak the language, uses that girl as an interpreter, and she is one of the people asking for donations too. It is all in-house, with everyone having a conflict of interest.

This is only one out of many videos I have collected over time.

In North Korea and the former Soviet Union, the phrase:

"You have freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequences."

... was all too popular.

In China, the phrase:

"You have freedom of speech, but not the right to be heard."

... is all too common.

In the United States, both are being embraced, and we should be concerned.

Authoritarian regimes rarely start by banning thought, but rather they corrupt expression itself. They grant the theoretical right to speak, then engineer a reality where doing so is civic suicide.

Consider the first mechanism, perfected in the shadow of the gulag: "You have freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequences." Under totalitarianism, the state manufactures the consequences. You can say anything, provided you are willing to lose your job, apartment, or liberty. The regime doesn't need to drag you away; they make the price of speaking so high you gag yourself.

Next is the digital cage perfected in China: "You have freedom of speech, but not the right to be heard." You can vent online all day, but algorithms quietly intercept your words. They throttle your reach and shadow-ban your profile, rendering your voice a tree falling in a digital forest with no ears to hear it.

The real tragedy is that these tools are no longer confined to foreign adversaries. They are being enthusiastically imported into the United States by both citizens and institutions.

In America, "freedom from consequences" has been weaponized by a hyper-partisan culture. People demand professional ruin and social excommunication for anyone stepping outside approved ideological boundaries, crowd-sourcing a secret police that imposes a devastating economic tax on wrong-think.

Simultaneously, the American public square has outsourced the "right to be heard" to algorithmic overlords. Under the banner of safety, tech platforms quietly bury non-conforming viewpoints, sterilizing the marketplace of ideas.

When a society willingly adopts both constraints, it ceases to be free. We are sleepwalking into a system where the First Amendment exists on parchment, but its soul has been traded for the illusion of ideological safety.

If you are not progressive left — which is the only way we save this country — I don’t want to hear from you anymore.

I will vote progressively or not at all. It is not up for debate or discussion.

I will not support pedophile Nazis or their sympathizers or collaborators. Unity is not more important than accountability and change.

Unity without accountability is just a hostage situation. We’ve spent decades watching conservatives move the goalposts and moderates tell us to be grateful for the new, worse 'normal.' Stop calling it a compromise when the only thing being sacrificed is progress. I’m voting for systemic change, not for a seat on a bus that only travels right.

I’m done accepting 'unity' as a substitute for change. The current cycle is predictable and toxic: conservatives break the system, and moderates ask us to 'compromise' by accepting the damage as the new baseline. True compromise requires a move toward progress, not just a slower crawl toward the right. I refuse to fall in line with a system that demands my silence while it protects the very people who should be held accountable.

If my unwillingness to continue to capitulate to that nonsense any longer makes you feel afraid, then be afraid, and do something about it.

Describe myself? Why? Who I believe I am is irrelevant to who you’re going to believe me to be.

I can tell you that, as a straight man, I support women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and trans rights. I can tell you that, as a multi-racial, multi-ethnic individual, I believe Asian lives matter, Black lives matter, and that your life matters too. I can tell you that I oppose genocide and believe in a free and independent Israel, Palestine, and Gaza, and that everyone has the right to exist. I can also tell you that I believe in one Taiwan and one China, both as their own independent and free nations.

But you know what I can’t do? Grow a silver tongue and convince you better than the trolls who presume they know everything. So believe whatever you wish. I am me regardless of anyone else.

#Introduction #Introductions #Intro

If I were an obviously simple-minded individual, I think I would have started to dislike all the people who support Palestine on the Fediverse. — Thankfully, I am not so simple-minded.

But I cannot say I do not resent the fact that many of the people who support Palestine do come off as simple-minded. — Why?

When I say the scam group known as Gaza Verified is a scam group, the listening stops there. Because I can tell you, Joy herself posted a video of herself in Iran while claiming to be in Gaza — she clearly forgot her surroundings because the building-sized poster of the Supreme Leader of Iran was a clear giveaway. But most of the people who support the scam group Gaza Verified do not even know about the video, do not know anyone else has talked about it, and likely stopped reading in the first sentence of this paragraph and don't even know I just spoke about the video.

All they heard in their fragile little minds was that supposedly I am attacking Palestinians. They thought this the moment I said the scam group known as Gaza Verified. Nothing else registered past that point.

That is what makes the scam so damn successful. It is the same mindset that upsets people when I say I support the people of Israel and Palestine. Someone here likely did not get past the word Israel, and they have no idea I also support the people of Palestine. Their brains shut down, and they were triggered before even finishing the sentence.

It's the same mindset of hate and ignorance that makes being a humanist — someone who believes everyone should have peace, love, and happiness — so damn hard while on social media.

Because for some of you it is a zero-sum game, and your idea of peace is to wrongfully wipe out and oppress the others. It's that mindset that while you claim to dislike genocide, you mean to say you dislike it when it happens to the people you like and somehow are fine with it when it happens to another group of people. And so the idea of someone like myself saying, "I want everyone, both Israelis and Palestinians, to live well" is met not with dialogue, but with hostility and immediate rejection.

Yet, I refuse to let that closed-mindedness rob me of my empathy. True humanism means refusing to pick a side in a tragedy where innocent human lives are caught in the crossfire. If demanding safety, dignity, and a future for both sides makes me an enemy to the extremists on the internet, then so be it — because true peace cannot be built on selective compassion.
