how is it almost 3am!?

#RecoveryWhiskers 0.7.2 is out!

RecoveryWhiskers is an open source, non-slop floppy recovery tool.

0.7.2 fixes the RWR raw flux file format using usize for its lookup table, this was changed to u32.
One note for the 32-bit users:
RW assumes that previous versions use a 64 bit usize, so if you were running RW on a 32-bit machine, load up your files on that 32-bit machine and hit "w" to write an updated file format of your files. Files written with 0.7.2 or above will be compatible with each other.

Looking at Needle in the Haystack games made me go down the rabbit hole to try to find the original game.

I found 12 games from this year, the earliest was registered on steam in May.

7/12 have been registered on steam in August 2026
3/12 have been registered on the 22nd of August 2026
8/12 I believe have used AI image generation in some part of the game.
1/12 have AI disclosures

Is the first game on that list the original concept? I don't know, these are the ones I found on steamdb in the past 2h

looking into a game about finding a needle in a haystack lead to a full blown research on these games and and knockoff practices in the age of mass slop production

anyone collecting and curating #retrocomputing packaging?

I have some amazing floppy boxes again and I'd appreciate if someone curates the aesthetics of the past.
