A "BBC senior broadcaster" spoke anonymously to The National. Apparently considerable unhappiness among BBC staff who are wary of losing their jobs if they rock the boat. Other sources quoted as well.
"Media analysis from various watchdogs and campaign groups have found an Israel-bias in BBC reporting since October 2023.
"... emotive language describing Israeli victims was used 11 times more frequently than language describing Palestinian victims”. ...
"... Western media “camouflaged” Israeli responsibility in headlines, with the BBC most criticised for this, having been found to do so in 83% of its headlines, according to media analysis. ...
"... the lack of “historical context and legal frameworks” was also a particularly key omission by Western media outlets.
"“Media references to the Nakbah, to decades of occupation and related brutalities, to the illegality and continued settlement expansion and to the 19-year blockade of Gaza are absent or minimised ... with October 7, 2023 presented as the origin of hostilities”."

(The whole piece is originally from The National, but it's paywalled there - I hope this copy is legit.)
I find this analysis pretty plausible, having seen many classic obfuscating headlines with my own two eyes (from lots of places, not just the BBC). I mean that style where the headline would be something like "[number] dead in Palestine" and what actually happened is more like "Israeli forces killed several whole families by bombing their homes in the night".
It's not new since 2023 either - mainstream media in the UK has historically given Israeli spokespeople plenty of air time and Palestinians not so much. I'm actually not sure how aware are ordinary UK people nowadays of the enormous difference in available weaponry, but for years, if you only went by mainstream coverage, you'd think it was a 50/50 fight.
