Fog season has started on Vancouver Island. I am happy.

Young elk hanging out earlier this week. It's rut season on Vancouver Island, however they are too young to have their own harem so they spend their time playfighting and trying to mount each other.

@CatherineBabault I was told, many years ago by a very wise woman that the sea listens as well as whispers.
When things start to get on top of me, I go to the sea that is nearby, sometimes to just sit and look and listen, sometimes to sort stuff out in my head. After a while, I do feel better. I'm lucky. Some people don't have a "Sea" to go to. Be kind. #WorldMentalHealthDay
Was looking for elk this week because it's rut season and I want photos of bulls 'fighting' but I got distracted by this beautiful amanita. Saw many elk but no fighting.

Tiny Parasola species (P. auricoma?), or inkcaps, in redcedar duff. These pop up in the morning, dump spores, and are gone by nighttime.

I've just come across a blog post from our trip to Patagonia back in 2025. I'm missing the wildlife of that special area. The Austral Parakeets are always a fun bird to come across.
Here's the blog post in case you are interested to read it you will see more pictures from that particular day.

Vancouver Island’s marmots have clawed back from 22 animals in 2003 to 427 today, the highest count on record. The Marmot Recovery Foundation released 41 captive-bred marmots this year, with 40 more due in 2026, while an estimated 120 pups were born in the wild in 2024 alone. Cougars, helped by trees creeping back over cleared slopes, remain the biggest threat. CTV News

Hey everyone! #Husky lover, wannabe photographer, and full-time adventurer Kiersten here in beautiful #Andalucia at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada!
I enjoy capturing shots of my #dogs, discovering amazing #wildlife & #birds, exploring #mountain peaks, admiring wild #orchids, geeking out over weather and anything to do with #nature.
I've explored the Patagonian IceCap 6 times with my husband, and back in 2013 we were invited on a sponsored trip to ski a volcano in Kamchatka.
There's still so much vibrant world left to discover. Big #adventures, small moments – I'm ready for them all!
#mosstodon Vancouver Island should have been named Moss Island.
This was my view 7 years ago this week at the end of a 4-day backpacking trip in the White Mountains, NH. This trip was defining for me. I hiked into the deepest part of this wilderness and over one of the most rugged sections of the Appalachian Trail. My mind was spinning with ideas for future trips in this wilderness which was new to me at that time and I have hiked there ever since. #MountainMonday #hiking #nature

People who can, should spend more time outdoors.
Preferably without devices. A camera is great. We need to hype back point_and_shoot digital cameras. 🤓
