Rather poignant comment on that thread:

I hadn't thought about it in quite those terms before, but that person is correct. LLMs can never be true #AI because they're based on language processing. In an actually intelligent being, language isn't intelligence; it's merely how intelligences communicate. It's like making an Ethernet port and calling it a “CPU”.
