It would be nice if bash could remember different sets of commands based on what folder I'm in.
(I don't suppose your associates could arrange that for me, Mr. Morden...?)

So now I have to figure out a venue, and that depends on what folks are good with.
Immediate options:
I could even split between different venues -- e.g. post stuff both here and on chat, and just deal with there being different discussions.
Thoughts, suggestions, cheese?
"They've put fungus on my fungus!"
The responses to this are really making me wish for a fedi version of G+ Communities.
(...and yeah, there are bots that will kinda do it, and non-Mastodon ActivityPub-compatible things that do it reasonably well, including Friendica... which mountain do I choose to climb, and how satisfactory will the view be upon climbing it?)
I don't suppose there are any #StarTrek fans (especially if steeped in TOS) who might enjoy being a test-audience for a parody-comic I've been working on.
:tootcat: Is anyone else experiencing large quantities of rate-limit warnings on #TootCat?
I've had two different reports from two different users, albeit separated by weeks -- need more information in order to figure out where the problem might be.

So, our 2010 Honda Odyssey has this weird feature(?) wherein anytime the battery gets disconnected, you have to enter a PIN for the nav system and another one for the radio.
CarMax didn't know what the numbers were when I bought it.
I took it to our local Honda dealer, and they reset them for me but wouldn't tell me what they are.
I figured out on my own that they're based on serial numbers -- I found the numbers and was able to derive the correct PINs, and we now have them both stuck on the dashboard for easy reference.
(Once you enter them, they're both unlocked until the next time the battery gets disconnected or discharged. You don't have to enter them whenever you start the car, even many days later.)
What I really want to know, though, is this: WHO EVEN THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA???
Inside you there are two* lungs.
Feed them both a mixture of O2 and Nitrogen, with maybe 2% CO2 (I think?) and optionally a few trace amounts of other non-toxic gases.
(WARNING: The above describes a process known as "breathing", which can lead to death or other adverse side-effects. Consult a doctor or pharmacist to determine the exact amounts of O2, Nitrogen, and CO2 that are right for you. Offer void where prohibited by laws of physics; not available in some states of matter.)
(* If the actual number is less, then I'm sorry life has treated you like that. Truly. Fully-repairable bodies when.)

This essay is almost a year old, but a lot of the same territory is now being relitigated...
This seems like a particularly good definition:
Elected Republicans have an ought-to-be [which is basically] that some people matter and other people do not matter, and that life must be earned by generating profit for people whose lives do matter
Does anyone know the specific process for reporting an error in the name of a geographical feature (especially one that isn't contained in a single country) on Google Maps?
I'm thinking there are a couple of bodies of water that need fixing, but I've tried to use the "report a data error" featuer and it always wants me to confirm the feature's address, starting with the country...

...but that's kind of giving short-shrift to all of his other crimes.
...which are surprisingly difficult to remember, because they've been so normalized by the media and also because there are So Damn Many of them.
...although at this point I can't think of any snark that would be adequately sharp and pointy and yet of sufficient heft to get through the thick skulls of whoever makes these decisions at Google.

I guess it's time for me to do another one of these...
So, Twitter 2...
I want to believe their intentions are as they say, but I Have Questions...
...starting with: why would anyone with truly good intentions be building YACS (Yet Another Centralized Service) in this day and age?
My top theory now is that they're using "record label" tactics: hire and deploy a bunch of truly sincerely well-meaning kids to write your promotional copy, interface with the potential customers, and build the initial service. (...while making sure the fine-print lets you enshittify it all later without let or hindrance.)
...but I'd love to be proved wrong.
If anyone knows anything about the people behind this, please feel free to pass it along.

They haven't enshittified LibreOffice! (This shouldn't need to be a cause for celebration, but here we are.)

Inside you are two wolves.
They are both ADHD and cannot focus on the same thing ever.
Sorry about that.
Hey @Vivaldi -- there's a bug where if I have a progressive app set up but I also have a page from the same site open in the browser and I shift-click to open it in a new tab, the browser and all progressive app windows lock up and Vivaldi crashes.
Is there a proper place to report this?
