Finished The Velvet Knife by Maureen Johnson and checked out the Goodreads reviews but very few people have read it yet. About one fourth of the comments are "Stevie and David better end up together" and the other three fourths are "I hope the murder victim in this one is David." 😂
#Baking peeps, I needed baking chocolate for a chocolate cake and all I could find was Ghiradelli 60% bittersweet. Think I should I use it and adjust the sweetness a bit or make another trip to get Bakers? I'm never that crazy about Ghiradelli chocolate, so that's nudging me to go back out. But I'm awfully tired and still need to make the cake today.
#AmReading Letters to My Weird Sisters and it's hitting me like a ton of bricks. Never have I seen my own experience as an #ActuallyAutistic woman so well described and defined. It's not just what happened to us, it's why it happened.
Ow! I accidentally used smoked paprika instead of sweet in a pot pie. It's still pretty good, but it bites back.
Quote of the Day:
"It was a very expensive lesson. But that does not mean that I learned it."

#AmReading All Roads Lead to Austen, a memoir/travelogue about an American English teacher who decides to spend a year in Latin America and see if Austen hits the same way in translation. She's also exploring recommendations for local literature. Very engaging, especially for an Austen fan.
It's one of those days when I really wish I could just push a button and dispense food.
Are there young #ActuallyAutistic adults out there who enjoy vegging out with t.v.? My daughter can't watch it when she's tired, which is so strange to me! It requires concentration for her.
All goofy smiling after finishing Blame This on the Boogie by Rina Ayuyang, a graphica memoir about growing up, school bullies, motherhood, fandom and above all, loving movie musicals.
Didn't get enough sleep again, because just when I was about to stop reading, a completely unexpected trans character turned up in my book and I had to go on!
#AmReading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
- Despite only getting around 6 hours of sleep, it was a good day.
- I did some gardening and some tidying and made zucchini bread.
- I ate lots of veggies.

A powerful graphic novel. I was particularly struck by the connection raised between the disappearing of books and the disappearing of people.
Artichokes give both bread and roses.
I'm pretty sure the tag claiming my tomato plant was determinate was a lie of sorts, because it's the hugest tomato plant I've ever seen. Pretty sure it will eat the rest of the garden.
#AmReading Diary of a Cranky Bookworm by Aster Glenn Gray and it's a very deliberate homage to the "young heroine who wants to be a writer keeping a quirky diary" epistolary genre and I am just so happy!
A new volunteer. Looks like a Partridge pea but doesn't react when touched. Mimosa? Should I pull it out?
I sent my mom some links about the booing about AI at graduations. Coincidentally, she'd just been watching a livestream of my niece graduating with an MSW in social work and said "All the speeches were about human values, service, and social justice." 👏 👏 👏
1. I was worried about my mom driving today when she was obviously quite fragile, but she got home safe.
2. Got to see my favorite streamer after missing the last couple of weeks.
3. My husband made chicken broth.
My daughter: "I don't look at the news. The news looks at me."
1) Remembered that I wanted to reach out to my sister more and we had a great phone call.
2) She had a good idea for my office windows. (I've been having trouble getting natural light without eyestrain.)
3) I realized that I may be experiencing autistic burnout. Which of course is not a good thing, but now I have a sense of how I can help myself. I asked for some alone time today and that helped a lot.
