Help!

In the sentence, "At rejse er at leve." is the "At" in the beginning of the sentence pronounced differently that the "at" near the end of the sentence?

Online, Den Danske Ordbog stated that "at" is pronounced [ʌ] og "i begyndelsen af en sætning også [ad]"

Tak!

Rødbederne plantede jeg om 1. september ser gode ud!

I'm sure I butchered this one. I'm trying to say, " The beets I planted on September 1st look good."

I had a feeling 'i morges' put it in the past tense.

What time designation would I use if I am currently planting them, now, and it is still in the morning?

Dagens solnedgang. Wauw!

I just got my order of seed garlic from Siskiyou Seeds (located in Williams, Oregon). I am very pleased with the quality of this garlic!

Check them out:

Er fiskeri populær i Danmark?

If so, what species of fisk do danskere usually try to catch?

Tak!

Dagens høst.

Nu røger jeg dem! 😋

Jeg fangede tre ørreder i dag.

Am I using the correct verb for catching fisk?

Tak!

Et spørgsmål --

I think (hope) I wrote, "My beets look healthy."

Though, in English, I would more likely write "My beets are looking healthy."

How would most danskere comment on the appearance of something like this?

"My beets look healthy" eller "My beets are looking healthy."

Tak!

For the beginning phrase of many fairy tales, 'Der var engang...', I assume the 'r' in 'der' becomes completely silent [ˈdε].

Is there still et stød at the end of the vowel?

I haven't planted a Fall garden since the early 1990s and since the climate in Western Oregon is so different, now, most of the old guidelines on timing don't work, anymore. 🙁

I'm preparing this little bed for lettuce, beets, chard, and carrots. Way back when, I could have done this in early to mid-August but now it's too damn hot, even into mid-September.

We'll see what happens.

For some reason this song came to mind, this evening. (And I love it.)

(Actually, I don't have any smørrebrød in my life.)
☹️

"The emerald ash borer, an invasive, tree-killing beetle, is spreading across Oregon and devastating ash tree populations"

"Oregon has its own native ash tree, the Oregon ash, which is prevalent across the state, namely around low-lying lakes, streams and rivers. Biologists worry that losing Oregon ash will make those waterways and their ecosystems more vulnerable to climate change."

Higher temperatures degrade water quality in many ways — including increasing bacterial and algal growth, decreasing oxygen levels, and changing overall chemical profiles. That could make drinking water treatment more expensive, and it could kill fish."

"Forestry officials expect Oregon will lose up to 99% of its ash trees to this pest over time."

I can't even imagine. 😢

When I see little seedlings of native trees along our fence lines that are in danger of getting mowed or cut by the county, I attempt to relocate them to a safe area on our land.

This is an incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens), which is the second most common, native coniferous tree (behind the Douglas fir) within a 10 kilometer radius of us.

I think that as the climate continues drying out and heating up in the Upper Willamette Valley, this is an ideal tree to be planting for wooded areas along the edges of our valleys. As you can see on the map below (from Wikipedia), we are on the northern edge of its current range.

To me, the only downside of this species is that it grows VERY slowly. By the time it's as tall as I am, I'll be sporting adult diapers. That's okay, though. I'm playing the long game.

Plant some, soon!
