With the upcoming multi-room feature for #Veilamp you'll be able to stream music to remote speakers (both from the local library or from the server) if they use Sendspin or Airplay (1 & 2) - which includes newer Sonos speakers, and all of Apple's lineup plus a whole host of 3rd party speakers that talk sendspin.
This is a foundational piece that will be built upon to expose listen parties with friends over #veilid
#Veilamp 0.3.7 is OUT!
Celebrating with a little listen party!

#Veilamp 0.3.7 release notes are up!
Happy release day!
#Veilamp 0.3.7 is off to the build pipeline and will be available a bit later this morning. It’s got a lot of minor tweaks, improvements, and bugfixes. It also comes with two new visualizers baked in (max headroom and hyperspace).
Today has been a bunch of bug fixes and getting things ready for the 0.3.7 release of Veilamp tomorrow!
The release is ready, and will go out tomorrow morning!
There is something magical about playing music on my phone that's streaming from my media server over Veilid...
Field testing the updates made yesterday and it's night and day - I think the sweet spot may have been found.
Significant rework of the veilid streaming path this afternoon has greatly improved streaming performance and reliability on mobile.
Streams now start within a few seconds, gaps between songs are so short you barely notice them, and the stuttering I’d been plagued with is gone.
This rework will apply to both Android and iOS.
It's still VERY early in development, but the first test of multi-room was a success! Two computers playing the same song at the same time with audio kept in sync between them...... it was truly a thing of beauty.
There's still plenty of work to be done on it... but it's coming!
After this, extending it to work over Veilid.
Starting Saturday with more field testing it #Veilamp for iOS!
Today’s test case: resuming a stream that was paused by a Bluetooth disconnect.
Example: using it in your car and getting out to go in a store - and having it resume where it left off automatically when you get back in.
Seems to be working!
#nowplaying - keep on lying by tame impala
Ive decided that every Friday I’ll pick a topic related to Veilamp to cover in a weekly post called Feature Friday.
This week, it’s the audio engine that powers #Veilamp

A little sneak peak at the WIP....
Good morning, Netizens of the Fediverse!
As mentioned last night - I'm issuing a challenge for all modders (and skinners) to create the best MAX HEADROOM visualizer.
The winner gets theirs included as an official visualizer, as well as gets to come up with an easter egg of their choice!
And bragging rights.
I'll be producing one myself, but... it will not be in contention to win :)
A Friday Challenge: Who can come up with the best MAX HEADROOM visualizer? Winner will get theirs incorporated into the official build, with an easter egg of their choosing added as well (because who doesn't love a good easter egg?!).
Oh - and you'll be added to the credits in the about page as a contributor!
Reply to this to submit, submit as many as you want, encourage your friends to join in!
Yes - I will be making one, but no - mine is not in contention to win ;)
I'm in the process of building out an official directory of veilamp add-ons by third parties. While I will stop short of actually HOSTING the packages, I will provide a place for third parties to have their contributions searchable, with details and download links to aid in discovery.
The creativity coming out of the community is awesome - I love what I've seen and can't wait for more!
#Veilamp 0.3.6 is OUT!
The release packs a bunch of enhancements, including the new LCARS skin and a whole bunch of improvements for skinners and modders (more coming!).
Full changelog and links to the downloads are on the website: https://veilamp.com
Happy Wednesday, everyone! In addition to being hump day, it's also RELEASE DAY! #Veilamp 0.3.6 is being built right now and should be available a little later this morning (barring any unexpected CI failures).
This *is* the release with the LCARS skin :)
#NowPlaying while waiting for the build... Muse - Stockholm Syndrome.
Getting Tuesday started with a little NIN!
#NowPlaying Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs.
Let's make Tuesday awesome! I'm gearing up for the 0.3.6 release of Veilamp, either later today or tomorrow depending on timing.
Getting closer!
Gonna leave it like this for a little bit before I decide if I want to tweak it any more...
This will be in the next release, for sure.
I heard some of you are interested in an LCARS interface for #Veilamp
... you've been heard.
Coming soon.
Official AURs of #veilamp and veilamp-server are going to be included in the next release, for both AMD64 and Aarch64.
Both will also have deb and rpm packages available (also AMD64 and Aarch64).
