Not a bogong (I think), but a few of these about at the moment. Perhaps a hawk moth of some sort. About 8cm tip to tip of those wings.

I blogued about the wombat war.

This is a marvellous choice for the Nobel Peace Prize. I had the good fortune to meet Navi Pillay about 18 years ago when I worked for the Australian Civil-Military Centre and she was a well-known international humanitarian lawyer and UN human rights commissioner. She’s exactly the kind of person who should get this.

New bag pin. ✊🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The paint is better than it looks. The centre is clearly black on white and not whatever the pic shows.

It’s a fucking hoot that the Fair Work Ombudsman is offering advice on how to get time off to play GTA6.

Pinch! Punch! First day of the month!

Men have been committing weaponised incompetence and burdening women with the intellectual and emotional load of their troubles since the 1700s if we’re to read anything into “Dear Liza”.

Who could possibly predicted, on 30 years of established form, that One Nation was an undemocratic, personality-driven, with-us-or-against-us, money-making scheme masquerading as a political party?

Why are conservatives so brainwormed? Fuckin’ weirdos.

Some of us older people, too. Using publicly available gen AI tools is demonstrably unethical and morally questionable.

I don’t know if any of you all follow Ms Rachel on social media, but she clearly gives no fucks about upsetting the establishment in her vocal and outspoken support of Palestinians, LGBTQIA+ folks, PoC communites, and others facing systemic oppression.

I am 100% here for the kids’ entertainer making life uncomfortable for others in a position of privilege and getting the message out via her platforms and taking action with her wallet and power to move the needle.

Sad dog is sad about her cone of shame.

We got a big graze on our side and keep licking the scab off.

Phrasing

Spring warmth brings out the echidnas and larger lizards. This echidna is trying to avoid attracting attention by hiding at the corner of the house.

Surely the lesson here is *turn the infernal thing off permanently and delete the code*?

Headed to the gym this morning. Haven’t lifted a weight in anger for an age. New t-shirt for the purpose.

A bit early for sawfly larvae.

A gentle reminder to you all that there is no ethical use of widely available genAI as it presently stands.

Niche uses for things like medicine and other specialisms may serve as exceptions, otherwise you're just feeding your stuff to a mistake generation engine trained on stolen data that objectively causes environmental and societal damage.

Only day 10 of fighting the Second Wombat Invasion. Today I am over it would be an understatement.
3 wombats in the yard last night and this morning.
Probably another 2-3 hours of repair work the fence involving digging up boulders to fill holes, dragging in the moved dirt, reinforcing with star pickets.
