So I was browsing a website yesterday, thinking of buying a hoodie. The site asked me to enter my email to get a discount code (I usually sign up for such discounts, and don’t mind funneling subsequent marketing emails into spam). But then it asked me to “confirm” by entering my phone number too. I HATE that tactic so I left the site.

I woke up this morning to three TEXTS from the company offering the discount code and urging me to finish my purchase. How did they get my number????? 😡

I’m letting you all know in case I forget again:

I’m putting the plumbers tape in the junk drawer.

Status update:

I’m still in my pj’s, sitting on the couch with Henry sprawled on my lap, thinking about how much I wish I had raspberry coffee cake.

I feel like I’m nailing it. 🤪

- went on a walk with my partner. The sunshine and changing leaves were lovely.

- watching “Married With Children” with my partner. I wasn’t allowed to watch it when I was young, but it’s actually pretty funny.

- the fur babies have been very cute and cuddly. I love them so much.

Try this:

- instead of imagining how you would feel if your daughter/wife/sister/mother were assaulted, imagine it happening to YOU. Every woman around you is. Every single day. It’s hard to ignore, especially when the burden to avoid being assaulted is placed squarely on women’s shoulders. Could you just move on?

Re: the #Cornell57, seeing a trend of (well-meaning?) men expressing outrage and proclaiming what THEY would do if something similar happened to their daughter/wife/sister/mother.

Ok but consider:

- it should not take a woman’s relation to a man to make us worthy of safety and protection. Although well-intentioned, this perpetuates harmful patriarchal and dehumanizing attitudes toward women. Be outraged that it happens to anyone.

Inspired by @AncTreat’s good financial news, I’m relieved to share that, after reapplying for student loan repayment assistance (which was required after trump and his corrupt administration torpedoed Biden’s SAVE plan), my monthly repayment amount has *not* increased, as I feared it would. I had heard horror stories from other people whose payments doubled or tripled, but apparently I am too poor to bother with…yay? I can’t describe how worried I was about this, it’s a big relief.

Floof levels are at 90% and rising.

My neighborhood just lost power for ~30 mins. Having thought a lot about emergency preparedness over the past few years, I think I managed it well*.

*I immediately panicked, attributed the blackout to ghosts, called out/clung to my partner as we made our way to the living room (where ghosts can’t get me?), hurriedly finished my glass of wine (priorities), and lit 1 out of 8 rechargeable lamps I strategically placed around the house for such occasions (I couldn’t find the other 7). #NailedIt

I had to go shoe shopping a few days ago to find some fancy dress heels. I found a pair in the clearance section. They fit, felt good, but were outside of my style comfort zone (kitten heels, little strap, pointy toe). As I was looking at them in the mirror, nervously turning this way and that, the security guard (female) walked by and, unprompted, told me they looked amazing on me. Made my whole day. I am still living off that compliment.
