"Riviera of the Middle East". This is a carnival holocaust. But holocaust no less.

I desperately want to read a novel or longer piece of prose - basically just decent literature - about the current (post-Feb/2022) situation in #Russia. Nuanced enough overall mood, zeitgeist. I have not heard of any examples. For two years I read all kinds of news, articles, expert analyses, reports etc, but they do not contain what I need at all.

Some might say "this is not a time for writing literature", but I do not believe it.

2/2 That you don't need to lift a finger to find interesting people, posts and content because something else - namely algorithm - does it for you. This is what kills chance encounters, innovation and creativity. This is what makes the world flat, boring and all the people mutually convertible. And this is why Mastodon is the only way to do a social network because there a no algorithms that decide things for you. I hope it will not fade away because people find it lacks "engagement".

1/2 It has become really quiet here in Mastodon. In my feed at least. It's a pity. Because I have understood that the main problem with Facebook, ex-Twitter - the lot of them - is not privacy, selling your data etc. Those are important issues too, of course. But the main thing that is much more dangerous is algorithms. The fact that somebody else decides what you like at every moment.

Biden uses #train, Putin travels by it, Kim Jong-un is an old fan of train. Seems like it is the coolest, trendiest transportation these days. Airplane is so 20th century.
