What happened to blogging for the hell of it?

In other other news, I finally had some time and will to work on Pyriodic Backend over the weekend, I might do another release soon

An idea just stroke me for a Fediverse TV show:

Pimp my instance.

A famous person visits your instance and gets you all sorts of upgrades, more RAM, maybe cache, SMTP, 24 inch Grafana dashboards for monitoring...

I'll ask on this account as well:

Does anyone have experience with those fans that you put on your stove and they run from the heat of the stove and a Peltier cell?

Did anyone build something like that themselves? I'm wondering if getting a Peltier cell and a drone motor with a propeller would work.

I'll need at least 5-7 more hours of exposure time to reach the level of quality I will be happy with

I am making an experiment with the image I am working on.

I've been shooting this part of the sky for three nights so far, and I wanted to compare the results. The image on the left is stacked from material from the first night only, 1 hour of integration time, the image on the right is from three nights, 3 hours of integration time in total (the progress is so slow because of bad weather and constant clouds).

Zoomed out, the difference is barely noticeable, but I'd say it's much more visible in the detail of the Gamma Cas Nebula

I need to buy a new CPU for my desktop PC. The only two use cases for it are Astrophotography and Civilization V, and both could use some more processing power.

@stfn Firefox on Android's Polish->English translation seems a bit suspect on that in places, but the intent all comes across well enough I believe. I really need to get around to trying this myself properly, only done the one time-aborted attempt to get mycelium going from shop mushrooms, which seemed to have some success, but ran into the usual lack of time/spoons/executive-dysfunction.

New blog post!

In which I write about growing oyster mushrooms at home.

Yes, these days I am much less into computers and more into growing stuff

Hey, why is that Native American wearing a cardigan, beanie, and holding a soy latte?

Oh, he's an indiegenous person

GIMP Image Manipulation Program

(I am a big fan of redundant pleonasms)

Today I TIL that GIMP struggles with 60MPix TIFF files.

Four days before the #SpaceX IPO, the #FAA changed its #safety policy to allow more #aircraft to fly through airspace where they are at higher risk of a catastrophic accident due to falling #space debris — removing one barrier to the space industry's goal of thousands of rocket launches per year. I'm building a time travelling car, but for now I only have a placeholder for it.

I'm calling it the DeLoream.
