It's *super weird* how a good night for democracies anywhere in the world is always a bad night for Vlad and Donny, personally and specifically.

Unrelated, but have finally used `pnpm patch` in anger, and I'm very taken by how easy it was:
TFW you "beat" a bug by rolling a dependency back to a previous version after failing to root-cause the issue for hours. German probably has a word for this feeling of self-defeat in victory.
All around the world, there are weird little guys who want you to think they are inevitable. They’re not. It’s just some guy. They need you to think of them as a monolith that can’t be defeated, but it’s just some weird little guy.
It's not your imagination; RAM really *has* quadrupled in price over the past couple of years and it *is* as expensive as a decade ago (log scale):
How cool is @homeassistant? Woke up this morning to discover an update to some TLS handling code in Python had made Lutron blinds integraiton in HAOS fail overnight. Less than a day later, a fix was merged and new OS images published; updates were near-instant, per usual, and house is appropriately haunted again. Amazing turnaround.

IF ONLY there was some sort of open, interoperable platform that didn't need arbitrary and capricious app store reviews to act as an overpriced "beware of dog" sign... 🤔🤔🤔
Oh the games Cupertino plays. Being made to look fools on a loop ain't great for regulators, nevermind the market, and maybe the UK noticed? Fingers crossed:

Couldn't (wouldn't) happen to nicer people.
A bitter lesson of frontend's lost decade is that no individual can fix what an entire culture is dedicated to breaking. There is no singular, virtuous person in a large org that can wield evidence effectively in the face of a tradition that rejects the scientific method.
Last week, #Palantir just forced Sadiq Khan to back down after the London Mayor tried to block the US spytech giant's contract with the Met Police.
Khan dared to say public money should go to companies that share London's values, and Palantir hauled him to the High Court. And after that, Khan's office released a statement praising the company - and Palantir is back in the running for the £50 million Met Police contract.
My question is ...
If Palantir can force the Mayor of London to back down, what will it do to ministers deciding the future of our NHS data?

The shame and anger I feel as an American is hard to describe. I was *livid* at Biden's NSC squishes for doing too little when conventional support could have brought victory, but outright betrayal for idiotically corrupt reasons is a sadness that's hard to bear.
