The Cornell faculty have signed a letter supporting students and calling out the administration for not doing more. Not a single computer science faculty member has signed it. 🫠 https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/14ExDKViEnzatN9HeMZ-3PdRP9IyMbDgQT9FfJ39zUCU/mobilebasic
@irene casual reference to **$1B** secret settlement for sexual abuse???
There's a longstanding #HousingCrisis in #Ireland, and they built #DataCentres in the very same defunded communities where they refused to build housing, because there's always plenty of steel for equipment racks. Just like there's always plenty of land for golf courses.
Not for you, tho. Never for you.

You are not your #RulingClass!
Wherever you are in the world, a whole world separates you from the rulers. You could vote every time like your life depends on it, and your voting will never be able to stop things getting actively worse for you. Because you don't own your #government.
The rulers don't even need to vote, and governments bend over backwards to grease the wheels for them, because they do own your government.
You will find yourself structurally prohibited from changing that relationship while working within the system, and violently prevented from doing so outside the system
Please be sure not to accidentally commit genocide when using an AI to disguise your plagiarism by replacing words with synonyms.

Maybe the real #solidarity is the friends we made along the way
#NPC: You wanna play hide-n-seek?! Show yourself!
Me: That's... not how hide-n-seek works

My latest bed for my #cats is coming along although finishing it is a challenge. I’ve learned that puff stitches actually hold up quite well as vertical walls. My previous attempts at bed were a little too soft. This one uses puff stitches in increasing and decreasing numbers. #crochet #catsofmastodon
Looks like that's #MissionAccomplished for the #EspsteinWar on #Iran

@CharlotteEowyn you are Enheduanna, high priestess of the moon in the Sumerian city-state of Ur, around 2300BCE. Writing is new and experimental (you are the first named author known to history) but transitioning is just such an accepted part of the culture that you write in your poem about the goddess Inanna:
"To turn a man into a woman and a woman into a man are yours, Inanna"

Hey @jonny I have a project idea and not sure how much of this functionality already exists, thought you might know.
Let's say there's an annas archive style collection of torrents indexing way more than I can ever host - books, music, video, whatever. If the metadata is in its own torrent I'll pull that, otherwise I want to pull the metadata with magnet, and if they content is in tar files strategically pull the header blocks, so I can build an index of what's available. Of course anything I pull I seed while I have it. Any file I already have in a local filesystem (even if the name/tree is wrong), I wanna identify using hashes and seed it. Then I want a front-end where I can search for content and either find where it already is, or say "I want that" - then the back-end finds the relevant torrent, downloads the relevant file (or portion of the tar file) to a local file and starts seeding.
@LilahTovMoon no one could have predicted that this service would be enshittified.
#GlobalSumudFlotilla currently under attack. 2 boats confirmed boarded (Alma Sirius), third boat currently being circled (Adara)

I'd just like to remind everyone that each week approximately 23% of Americans take acetaminophen, so if it really caused autism, we'd have a way more functional train system in this country.
Since I tooted this, #itchio predictably caved, and they went even worse than steam. We seriously need a #fedi approach to payment processing, and no I don't mean "a company with that in the name" or "yet another cryptocurrency scam" or any of that. I mean that buyers and sellers both register with a set of intermediaries (individuals or orgs) they have reason to trust, and those intermediaries establish a path between them to enable the money to flow for any given transaction.
These networks have existed offline for at least hundreds of years, but have been memory holed and/or regulated out of existence. We need to relearn this shit
Why do I need to mark another user's #git repository as safe in order to run "git log" on it, which is just reading history? Or to clone it, which I can do for http repos without any warning?
