energy nerdery: talking about demand destruction as a result of high oil prices, and buddy elseweb made the point that "you can't just throw up a giant solar farm overnight". which is absolutely true, in that things take time to permit, plan, build out, etc etc
but compared to other alternatives? the 2-4 years to get a solar farm online pales in comparison to 4-8 years for a natural gas fired plant or 8-15 years for a nuclear reactor 😅
