I have misplaced my NZ passport. Best case it is at my brother's house in Hampshire and I can pick it up on Tuesday, before flying to NZ via Canada on Wednesday to Saturday.
I have my UK passport, but it is not attached to my Canadian ETA.
My current plan is to apply for a new ETA on my UK passport, and apply for an emergency NZ passport, while my brother turns over the room I was staying in.
I've thought about calling the airline to help, but they still haven't found my bag from last week.

Electric ferry, 1 minute 57 seconds.

The ferry at YTZ and its destination (right). This ferry hasn't left yet, in case you were wondering how far it goes.

Step 1: promise someone you can solve a financial problem that's been hanging over their head for eight years.
Step 2: make them fill out paperwork for a month. Never follow up unless they send you multiple emails.
Step 3: send an email saying application accepted at 4:10pm.
Step 4: send an email saying application rejected at 4:16pm. Put the explanation behind a login you haven't given them.
Step 5: job done, go home for the day.
Step 6: make sure the password reset doesn't work.
Step 7: make sure the "call us" link in the password reset failure message returns 404.

I am brimming with confidence that these guys will take good care of my life's savings.

Time to switch KiwiSaver provider again. This one just gleefully informed me that they've spent my money on SpaceX shares.

There's too much confusion between AI and LLMs.
Some AI is useful.
Some LLMs are useful.
What we don't need is the hyperscaled LLMs, which for the avoidance of confusion we should start calling Massive Language Models, or MLMs.
MLMs are a scam.
Maybe if they built data centres in the shape of a pyramid it would be more obvious?

Stop calling Altman and Amodei "con artists". There is no art to their con, and if there were, they certainly stole it from someone else.
They are con men.

People discussing a world without America rarely grapple with the fact that the Niagara river would be part of the Atlantic coastline if the USA just disappeared.

If you'd told me thirty years ago that I'd be in vigorous agreement with the Pope and ridiculing Richard Dawkins on a technical issue, I'd assume you meant I had had a stroke.

Went looking for an email and noticed that Gmail Android client has started sorting my email search results by most relevant instead of most recent by default.
[goose meme] most relevant to whom, motherfuckers?

Don't teach your kids English.

Just checked on the #quax and #quaxing hashtags and ... no activity.

These are unstable companies doing bad things, run by people who make Jeffrey Skilling look like a saint. I'm not going to give them money, or cause my employer to do so, even if it were true (and it's not) that it will make me work faster.
