Elise Carlson has a blog post listing dozens of authors that sell direct. Many of them write about queer, disabled, or BIPOC characters.

This made me literally laugh out loud.
I approve of this method of proving humanity. Much better than asking me to tick all the boxes containing buses or whatever.

@clacksee has a new pen name, and has released a short book under that name.
I've reviewed it on my blog:

The Kickstarter for my next book is now live.
Backers can also get other extras such as a signed print of the cover art, via add-ons.

I haven't seen Pressure. Having read this, I'm not in a great hurry to change that.
Pressure: A very fictional retelling of a crucial D-Day decision – Stephen Fisher

I'm inclined to agree with Dean Wesley Smith. We should call it AS (artificially stupid), not AI.
I love open source. I self-host quite a lot, and I'm pleased that I can do that.
But I get frustrated at how often documentation only covers the initial set up. Earlier today I looked at documentation for a service I was considering self-hosting.
It had instructions for installing, but nothing about how to upgrade an existing installation. But it's important to me that I know how to upgrade when a new version is released.
I've seen desktop programs where the documentation has "How to make your first in five minutes". Then the rest of the documents assume a deep understanding, with apparently nothing to help you get from new user to wizard level.
Some of the houses around here have interesting house number signs.
@TotesTanked have you heard this claim before about where the Valentine tank's name came from?
It's new to me.
An interesting and thoughtful piece on how to react when an artist whose work you love reveals themself to be an arsehole.

New Blog post. Book review: Murder on Donut Station by @clacksee

I went to my first repair cafe today. I took this, thinking that they'd probably be unable to repair it, but in that case I'd be no worse off.
Happily, they were able to repair it, and I am now the proud owner of a working 26-year-old PDA 🙂
I've been self hosting email for years. This morning, an email to a Gmail account was blocked because of "the very low reputation of the sending domain".
Any advice on how to fix this? Presumably using a hosted email service won't help because I'd still want to use my domain, and Gmail says the domain is the issue.
I'm setting up a Kickstarter for my next book, about Operation Colossus, the first time the British used paratroopers. The pre-launch page is now available, so you can sign up to be informed when the campaign starts.

A friend sent me this. I immediately thought of @neil 😂
I finished my book this afternoon. Fortunately, my pre-order of Murder on Donut Station arrived this morning 🙂
Count Binface has a Ko-Fi page, so if you want to help him defeat Farage, you can donate there.
I love having curious kids. Youngest is watching a Doctor Who episode set during the blitz ("The Empty Child").
That led to questions and discussion of RDF, the Royal Observer Corps, the RAF, the Dowding System, and crime during the blitz.
I believe there are some Psion fans here, so I should mention that I've listed a Series 3, a Series 3a, and a Series 3a programming manual on Ebay.
