Ukrainian bandurist brings the music of the kobzars to Kraków’s busy Rynek Główny. With his traditional Cossack-style oseledets haircut and flowing white moustache, he made a memorable sight as he played this many-stringed instrument. Photographed in 2005.

Slender columns and graceful arcaded galleries line the Renaissance courtyard of Wawel Royal Castle in 2005. Beneath the projecting roof runs a richly painted frieze of classical figures, part of the Italian-inspired decoration created when the medieval fortress was transformed into a magnificent royal palace during Poland’s 16th-century Golden Age.#Poland #Krakow #WawelRoyalCastle #Photography

An unexpected sound echoes across Kraków’s main market square in the mid-1990s as a kilted piper performs beside the arches of the Sukiennice. With his instrument case open for contributions, the musician brings a distinctly Scottish note to the historic Polish city while pedestrians pass through the square.#Poland #Krakow #Sukiennice #Bagpipes #Piper #Photography

Curtiss‑Wright C‑46D Commando “The Tinker Belle”, serial 478774, on public display at Oshkosh 2000. The Commando was the largest twin‑engine transport of the Second World War, valued for its high‑altitude performance and heavy lift capability, particularly on the Himalayan ‘Hump’ route. A beautifully kept Grumman G‑44 Widgeon on the grass at Oshkosh, its classic yellow‑and‑green scheme showing off the clean lines of this twin‑engine amphibian. Designed in the early 1940s as a light utility flying boat, the Widgeon went on to serve in both civil and military roles worldwide. This example captures the type’s looks perfectly — compact, capable, and unmistakably Grumman.#AvGeek #AviationHistory #VintageAviation #GrummanWidgeon #AmphibiousAircraft #Oshkosh #AirVenture #Photography

Replica Fighters Association area at Wittman Regional Airport during AirVenture Oshkosh 2007. The display includes the group’s headquarters building surrounded by humorous signage, notably a mock security notice declaring “Stealth Bomber – No One Beyond This Point – Deadly Force Authorized.” The joke, a long‑running Oshkosh favourite, plays on the idea that the aircraft is present but invisible. #AirVenture #Oshkosh #StealthBomber #Photography

USAF Lockheed C‑130J Hercules on the AirVenture 2004 flight line, being repositioned with a tow tractor while crowds move across the show grounds.
