Finished reading your book.
It was fun.

Btw, this is a detail of the circuitry of the dead laptop (which worked fine until it did not)

Ok, my previous work laptop died and yesterday i was issued a new one. For the last 18 years i had Dell and Alienware laptops, this one is HP. It is heavier and bigger than my last Dell, but at least it has finally the same WUXGA screen as the 18 years old Alienware. There is a dedicated Copilot key and power button sits between End and Delete keys. <stream-of-profanities/>

As a merge between my work and hobbies, I also build watercooled #watercooling computers and small devices based on #arduino.

Presently, I am also working on a #notetaking app Zorglog, which could be used for anything between personal project worklog to shared electronic laboratory notebook.

After joining Mastodon and following people here, I have to admit I am hooked on the dynamics of this space and the general idea of federated social networks. This feels like the future.

In our lab, the instruments are controlled by software built on common platform LabApps, and the experiments are scripted using my #lisp dialect LabLisp. Spectroscopic data analysis is provided by QBerr libraries.

The trio of projects LabLisp, LabApps and QBerr are all written in #qt C++ and are open-source, however, I still need to find time to open and organize public git repo for them. And yes, maybe write some documentation. So far, only LabLisp has some public front at www.lablisp.org.

After lurking on the outskirts of the fediverse for almost 2 years, I think it makes sense to post an #introduction.

My name is Premysl (Prema) Marsik (he/him) and I am a physicst #physics working in the field of optical spectroscopy of quantum materials. I specialize in #THz and #infrared #ellipsometry on thin films.

I am building ellipsometers and writing software for them #c #programming. I am working on an #opensource framework for optical data acquisition, processing and analysis.
