also the first time I used it, it seemed to screw up my Mac so I won’t tickle that dragon again.

F’n APFS Is supposed to be a fancy file system with deduplication. Why am I manually de-duplicating tons of shit?? I guess that’s why Siracusa sells his app (I won’t use it because I think it’s withcraft)

It’s funny to see some writers (here, Gurman not Gruber) keep using the term “set top box”. It’s not likely you’re putting a box on top of the tv, at least not without a lot of duct tape (duck tape?)

I can only assume the Trump administration is trying to rebrand AI as super-intelligence because they can't trust cabinet members not to refer to it as "A-1"

Hm do we need new Rosetta on MacOS 27? (I don’t recall this happening on my MacBook which was running the beta for months)

It is peculiar and I have not seen any plausible explanation yet.

Does Apple Product Marketing just have a dictionary of clichés and tell the engineers to base products off a pun to match? They never run out after so many decades!

Sigh … 😖 … what's the point in having *nearly* but not exactly lockstep version numbering across all the platforms?

@gruber On a recent “The Talk Show” you mentioned a while ago you were astonished some program (TextMate?) used ⌥ P for print. And you said how is anyone gonna type π? And the author was like uhh?

I sometimes use Google Gemini as a Safari-Dock-App and I just asked it if I should use the new native Mac app. It said yeah you can trigger it with option space.

I said but how will I type a nonbreaking space? And it said, oh, well if it works, keep doing what you're doing. 😳

Maybe I'll watch the piracy version on my armchair mac while my fancy Mac plays it for real. Is that legal?

Is "The Gorge" tv show any good? I apparently cannot watch it with my actual AppleTV+ susbscription on an old computer. It is easy to pirate. HDCPSUPERDUPER

I kinda wonder what is the deal. iCloud Private Relay is supposed to show my general city area to the server. Or I can set it to show only something in my time zone.

I can test this with a reverse DNS lookup.

But sometimes it is way off. It is often in Colorado … 🫩 that's neither.

Is this an original iPhone‽ #WWDC

So the #Artemis II capsule will be transported to Florida, eh? I wonder by what way? Obviously there are 3 ways (truck, rail, panama canal). Probably truck and disguised.

It's always breathtaking to see the tiny size of modern Apple-Silicon MLB’s but I guess we should be used to it by now. Every mac nowadays is just a big iPhone to some degree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbPCGqoBB4Y

Where's he going? #ICE

@ivory now with "native" quoting of tweets it is impossible to do it with some servers, right? I am upset, but resigned to it.

I'll tell ya what, you bastards, this $600 WalMart M1 MacBookAir is fucking dynamite. It even has good speakers.

If they make an alleged A18 version in March, that's the thing!

I was alive before Twitter but even for me on a phone tree when they say press the pound key I'm like … uhh okay, concentrate … um ☏

Why can't they just say Octothorpe? #️⃣

@simonbs Hello Simon. I have really been enjoying the new Festivitas update this year. 🎄❄️

I told my dad about the new snow feature (he did buy it a year ago) and he thought it would drive him crazy. It would do me too if it was by accident, but when I turn it on intentionally it’s so fun!

I actually would request it could be turned on/off per multiple displays? It is frivolous & fun to overlay on a video I'm watching, but on the other screen maybe I do want to read something more intently. 🖖
