We were working on our neighbourhood pollinator garden in Fairmont Park last weekend. A group of unruly teens showed up, and my middle-aged kneejerk response had me expecting something dire.
And then a young woman with a set of bocce balls showed up, and they played a brief, intense but very friendly game.
It was awesome.
The whole thing lasted less than 30 minutes and then they disappeared. Presumably to get frozen custard at #MerryDairy
I am reminded again how in 1935, the US Congress passed a tax law that created a new top tax bracket of nearly 80%.
That tax bracket contained exactly one person, John D. Rockefeller, and was designed to stop him from causing so much trouble.

Argentine artist Leandro Erlich's Swimming Pool (2004), at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan, creates the illusion of people standing at the bottom of a pool.
The illusion is surprisingly simple: just 4 inches (10 cm) of real water rests on a transparent glass surface. Beneath it is a dry, blue-walled chamber that visitors can walk into.

@futurebird True story, I worked on a CSA as an intern in my 20s. One day we were making our way down a 200 foot bed of turnips, hand pulling the weeds that had evaded the tractor, and my fellow intern asked the farmer, what can you do with turnips? The farmer said, IDK, throw them through somebody’s window I guess. Hardly anyone really likes them, but they’re a traditional vegetable, so CSA’s are like contractually obliged to grow them.
I am looking for a manual of forestry/garden tool sharpening and maintenance, published in the 20th century in the UK, ideally pertaining to billhooks, scythes, etc. The internet search is useless now. Please help! #gardening #tools #forest

The CERT recommendation is to turn off servers running PHP based applications until updates to PHP are available and can be applied.

Which was Neil's suggestion months ago: that this campaign was going to come down to a two person race. Only by his tortured logic he was the only viable progressive option. I think we can agree that's not in the cards now?
