Sometimes I try to imagine the meeting where the people publishing Hero System 6e got together and decided, "I think what we really need is a cover in a color scheme dogs can see." #rpg

I'm so tired of active UIs. If I click on something, I want there to be approximately a 0% chance of that click being applied to something else. There should be no lag just clicking on one thing.

Physician: In cases like these, it's not likely. But it's best to wait and watch. There is a small chance he will become hideously mutated, gain powers over which he has little control, or gain new abilities which he will use to take revenge on a world that tormented him when he was an awkward adolescent. But we won't know much until morning, most likely. It's best for you to go home and get some rest.

Somewhere in a Marvel or DC ER

Physician: I'm afraid your son is in critical condition. His exposure level was very high.
Family member: Will he be okay?
Physician: He is getting the best care. Only time will tell.
Family member: Will there be long term effects?
Physician: We can't be sure. In cases like these, some patients make a full recovery. But it is also possible he may be permanently disabled.
Family member: What about dangerous super powers?

PSA: email is an asynchronous mode of communication, if what you are communicating has any sense of urgency at all, please text or message me to tell me to check my email. At this point when they take my BP a couple of times, and I comment, "That felt a little tight," I just ignore whatever they say next. Apparently most nurses and techs don't really think about cuff size. Which I find weird because it definitely matters. No kidding my reading was a little elevated, you just squeezed the crap out of my arm.
And just to help to visualize, I am all of 5'7" and I am not a huge guy, but I wear XL shirts to accommodate my shoulders and biceps.

Our dog made a big show of scratching her nose in front of me, then followed me to the kitchen, where I offered her some children's Benadryl that she took right out of my hand. This dog is smart.

I know only one phrase in Ukrainian, but it's the only one that matters right now.

I'll bet the "go woke, go broke" crowd feel like a bunch of jackasses now.

So, good news.

What corporate America has done in the last fifteen years to attack consumer choice and small business operations should actually be illegal.

I never finished reading the third Harry Potter book. She's an okay writer, I guess, for kids with a limited reading list. Now, some of you want to jump out and say, Rather than dissing her artistic skills, let's talk about what a bad person she is.
But i just want to make it clear that "Well, I love her books, I don't know how to live without them" is an invalid defense, you either don't read much or you are just making a dishonest justification or you (not so) secretly agree with her.

The Complete Book of Humanoids define the Shaman as a cleric kit, specific to humanoids (not humans or demi-humans), that is a primitive version of the cleric. So, if you read that straight through, they are saying cultures with shamans are primitive sub-human monsters.

I like looking at older D&D sources. I like seeing how certain concepts have evolved over time. It's also a way to find inspiration, and to counteract decay of unique and forgotten things.
But some of the language and attitudes in older books is quite appalling to read. Even in the late AD&D 2e era, even into 3e and 4e. Until 5e, hardly anyone ever seemed to question how the word "primitive" was used, what contexts it related to, and the implications of such a word choice.

Redditors will seriously downvote you for stating things that are upsetting, but true.

I don't know who came up with the visual design for the Gray Maidens, but this is one of the best fantasy designs I've ever seen.

I'm more nuance-y than some, but it is very important to me personally and professionally for ethical, commercial, and aesthetic reasons, to keep AI out of things where it doesn't belong. So, kudos to LibreOffice for doing the right thing.

Now that my teenagers have become iced tea drinkers, they really need to become iced tea makers.
