When Elvis was a puppy, he was really scared of the electric coffee bean grinder I was using. So I spent some time running the grinder and immediately giving a treat, Pavloving him not to fear the sound.
The thing is that there are some aspects in which Elvis is ridiculously smart. One of those is recognizing patterns. He is extremely pattern and routine oriented. So even if I haven't used that particular coffee grinder in years, electric kettle has been swapped, I do pourover instead of aeropress... he recognise "coffee related" tasks.
And wants treats. Six years later.
This is what I see from the kitchen a few seconds after I have touched the electric kettle and Elvis has been sleeping upstairs: "are you making coffee?"
