My workshop at LRC on playing with UNIX V4 was a great success!
Everyone loved the teletype and terminal. In the manner of the day, I gave manuals to teach the system and ed (@ed1conf), and we now have a cohort of new ed users. A few groups solved or got close to solving my challenge of backporting the obfuscated mullender.c program from V7 to V4. Surprisingly with a dozen or so people on at once, UNIX handled the load fantastically.

@fatsam per your comment on the Israeli government.
Who wants to bet against the Orange Blight imposing 10,000% tariffs on inflatable animal costumes from China (which appears to be where they are all sourced, judging from Amazon.es) before the next No Kings event?
Are there guides to finding Mastodon servers which support long-form posts (much more than 500 characters)? There are several site selection guides but they don't talk about, or have a way to search for this. @mastodonmigration perhaps you know?
Is anyone doing encryption-at-rest remote backups to cloud storage from a Linux home network? I'm thinking of using a provider like Hetzner and lashing up something using rsync, but it's a bit out of my wheelhouse so good tutorials or examples are welcome. Ideally using only OSS tools - I know there are some commercial backup solutions for Linux as well, but would not be comfortable trusting my data to them.
Based on our experience over the last months, I'm concluding GitHub Actions is unfit for purpose and cannot be relied on for anything critical. All too often jobs either sit in the Queued state forever, or appear to run, but stall at the "cleaning up state" so the generated artifacts are never accessible.
Perhaps their, quite pricey commercial tier would help, but who can tell, when there's zero ability to diagnose the problem? We might try self-hosted runners.
@stux upgraded my pledge on Patreon to Tier 1 - with all the new migrations, I expect you can use a bit more support.
