Wait, In #Tacoma?
"Detainees at the Northwest Detention Center in #Tacoma, #Washington admit on 10/6/26 that #GEO group is using #incinerators inside the facility."

I can't emphasize enough the concept of "power" in the statement
"And every politician, journalist and institution that concludes "I cannot leave because my audience is there" reinforces it."
When people (especially my own family) get pissy with me because I can be rather insulting about the use of Meta/linkedin/Xhitter/et al, I lament.
The power these engagement platforms have over you, yours, and mine, it's so fucking disheartening.
It's a choice.
But, I'm the bad guy for pointing it out.
I'm looking to hire a project manager!
I'm working on a project with materials scientists and physicists to build stacked quantum heterostructures, which have potential interesting properties as semiconductors, etc. It's a crazy process that involves crystal growers, driving microscopes with an Xbox controller, a adiabatic demagnetization refrigerators, and exfoliation with scotch tape. We need a project manager to help us ... well, manage the project.

The autist's problem of #liminaltime
Not a place, but that time between tasks.
Finishing one task (woo!), but too soon to start next task..
2 minutes? 7 hours?
Doesn't matter, it's a yawning chasm, a wide gulf, wat do???
A gallon of diesel, and a pound of beef, are both now more than federal minimum wage.
Any claim that can be asserted without evidence, can be rejected without evidence.
Friendly reminder,
I know a lot is going on, but does anyone in #Kentucky even care about their representation? How is this not active fraud?
Another day, another call for

Starve the system. Feed your neighbors.
Quick, before they come for you, too.
Evergreen #advice for today's busy serfs, laboring under surveillance capitalism
...And BY ALL MEANS, especially if you're not going the mechanic route, find yourself a mechanic, and pay them (pizza and beer are good currency) to install the OS for you!
I don't see this advice a lot, so to feel better about never seeing it said, I'm gonna say it.
If you're thinking of switching to #Linux, and it seems like there's an interminable amount of #linux distros to choose from, here's a handy principle;
You shouldn't have to be a mechanic just to drive a car.
Some Linux distributions are more driver friendly, and others are more mechanic friendly.
Pick one that suits your intended use.

IS NOT A PACKAGE MANAGER!!
So I have the server. An e-recycled ThinkCenter.
It has the WiFi radio.
It has the Debian/Ubuntu/Mint distros mirrored. All of each. (I routinely update it.)
It also has https://internet-in-a-box.org installed, and hosts all of StackOverflow, Wikipedia, ifixit, and a ton of other resources.
Connect to its WIFI, and it's captive portal presents as an InstallFest In A Box server.
All I'm missing now is the balls to sit in the library with a little paper sign that reads "Free Technology Clinic". 🫠
How your email finds me
I've seen whitespace characters you people wouldn't believe
Emspaces on fire off the shoulderof orion
Iwatched Ogham space marks glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.

Time to cry
Does anyone remember when being at a security conference like DefCon and discouraging things like press, cameras, having your picture taken?
Just got back from a block party that neighbors I didn't know threw.
I met some of my neighbors, which is hard because I don't people so good.
But now I've met more of my neighbors.
They are nice people! And the few I asked, agreed there's too much negative propaganda.
I feel more part of my neighborhood now. I hope they keep throwing block parties.
That was all.
Thanks #Fediverse, Thanks #ActivityPub, Thanks all the hackers that make my social network the only social network I want.
I have never wanted to have a social network account owned by a company. I have never understood who would?? Which, to this day, has taught me so very much about how little I understand people.
Nevertheless. I woke up grateful this morning to have a social network I can feel good about after all.
It's not perfect. Nothing is perfect, but I can participate openly here. Thx
Hello fellow #Americans,
