Walked over and put my completed ballot in the ballot box this afternoon. King County recently put one up in our neighborhood, so its a short and convenient walk.

Near peak fall colors at the Washington Park Arboretum today. Lots of people walking, jogging, taking pictures, getting their pictures taken.

The main subtype this year is H1N1 (as opposed to H3N2 last year) which contains a mutation that has not been seen since the 2009 influenza pandemic, so it will be especially important for those 17 and under to get vaccinated since they will not have as much immunity to this variant. (and besides which, this age group makes much better immune responses to vaccines than my older age group)

I got both my COVID and influenza vaccines yesterday. I usually wait on the influenza vaccine until end of October/early November, but apparently flu is starting early this year on the west coast, https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-026-03150-8 .
