A colander is a type of water filter.

If the Doomslayer is effectively a male power fantasy, what is the female equivalent?

A scammer just called to ask if my wifi was running. Is that today's "Is your refrigerator running?"

The 2026 El Nino officially went off the chart yesterday. Said chart has been resized as a result. The current Nino 3.4 water temperature is 30.06 C. Prior to the update, the chart stopped at 30 C. Even knowing this would happen soon, it is still unbelievable to me.

This is not cool.

Dear nerds, I must ask a question of you.

Do shapeshifters age? If so, can they defy aging by simply copying a younger human, or does their default physiology still age on its own?

I feel like a shapeshifter has such control of herself down to a cellular level that she should be effectively ageless. What do you think?

Boosts welcome. I have got to hear nerd opinions on this one. Please bring the logic, the passion, or both!

I miss being able to purchase things. On the plus side, having to subscribe to (rent) everything is saving me a lot of money, because I simply don't subscribe to much. So I suppose I should be thankful, I guess?

No... it's the corporations who are wrong.

Realizing the reason I hated jelly donuts as a child was because we were poor and already ate a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It didn't feel like a treat. It felt like more of the same.

Ah, but a Boston Creme? Those, I loved and still love.

I filled my bird feeder three days ago. Half the sunflower seeds are gone. Chickadees are fluffing up for winter.

Being autistic in an allistic world is like being required to pay money to ice skate uphill while allistic people get unlimited free crampons.

Don't worry, though. Capitalist society will find a way to sell us tinted nighttime glasses and who knows what else to protect us from the problems they cause. That's how it always goes. Capitalism creates new problems, then sells you the solutions to the problems they created.

Today I learned about Bluebird satellites, each the size of a tennis court and will be as bright as the big dipper's stars when overhead.

Fuck all of this. I am so beyond tired of technology nobody needs which inevitably makes living on the planet worse.

Does anyone know why Thunderbird for Android has a habit of mail getting stuck in the outbox for seemingly no good reason?

An email client should send and receive mail above all else. Might be time to switch. I'm open to suggestions on how to fix this or suggestions for a better mail client.

The fascinating thing about having a high-mirroring autistic personality is just how much nicer I am in Canada. I'm a raging bitch much of the time in the United States. But in Canada, I am generally pleasant.

In approximately 48 hours, I get to go on a four hour ferry ride. Yay! 🧡

I dislike Celsius because the individual degrees are too big. If I have to break into decimals to get the comfort I need, that feels to me like a measurement scale which is not ideal for my lived experiences.

However, I absolutely prefer metric for distances, and more importantly, for barometric pressure. Who the hell thought measuring pressure in inches made sense? Using bars / millibars is so much more logical!

For most things, I prefer metric, but there are some areas where at least for me personally, I feel imperial measurements are superior.

I prefer imperial for cooking, comfort, and construction. I prefer metric for most everything else.

Are you an all imperial, all metric, or mix of both kind of person?

I just want to have the occasional good day again.

The downside to reliving old media for the nostalgia. Nearly everything from my adolescence is problematic in one way or another. That's just how things were back then. Even your more progressive shows like Star Trek had their icky episodes.

We have come so far, yet there is still far to go.

Am I getting old, or is tech just getting worse every single day for no good reason?

It occurs to me, there are only two people in my physical life who match me intellectually. One of them is my therapist. The other is moving out of state before the year's end.

How is a middle aged closeted genderqueer person supposed to find intelligent thoughtful friends in real life? I have no idea where to begin.
