After months of slow and steady building I finally got my VO2 Max back up to 50!

Went and saw and thoroughly enjoyed “Digger” last night. I can see why it is getting polarised reviews though, it’s a very odd piece of self-aware, topical satire.

If you really didn’t like movies like “Don’t Look Up” for its themes, “Poor Things” for its visual style, and“A Cock and Bull Story”, or “Adaptation” for their for their postmodernism then I would recommend giving “Digger” a miss. Otherwise, check it out.

I’m spending part of this long weekend reading about and grappling with Lean for the first time. Even with a fairly decent familiarity with complex types from Haskell, dependent types are rewiring my brain!

Every time I hit something and think “how on earth does that work?” The answer has almost always been “dependent types”.

It’s also fun to really work with the Curry-Howard correspondence. I’ve read about it many times and thought, “sure, that makes sense” but hadn’t really internalised it.

Very cursed optical illusion.

Some Saturday afternoon sax practice.

I've only been playing since May so definitely have a lot of room for improvement. I'm enjoying the journey though, it's a really fun instrument to learn.

Pretty happy with this morning’s effort.

@mdreid happy equinox :)

One of my favourite things.

In related news, I’ve been enjoying using the Sessionography app. It’s a fantastic way to browse jazz tunes, artists, labels, and find surprising connections.

Happy 100th birthday John Coltrane!

I think I discovered a “portmantrio” (triple portmanteau):

neoconmanchild

unnatural log: l̵͉̹̹̽̎͊n̷̯͍̘̗͌͋̊̔(x)

Saw the number plate “6502”. Couldn’t tell whether the driver was a Commodore 64 or Apple ][ fan, or whether they were born in February 1965, or both.

It’s well and truly spring in the front yard.

The song, "We're Not Gonna Take It" came out more than 40 years ago but I feel like we have, in fact, continued to take it.

If you hire a poet, don't pay them by the line

It creates per verse incentives
