qrz.com runs a 9 year old version of Apache httpd. Nobody is surprised, right?

Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) Server at www.qrz.com Port 443

I'd personally love to get out of tech. I have a career coach and everything and am discussing what my future looks like. But the truth is, without utterly radical life changes for me and my family, leaving tech isn't very realistic right now.

And I hate that.

WX station to APRS complete! Blog with details coming tomorrow.

Finally upgraded the 25 year old station in my shack! Welcome the ICOM ID-5200.

I’m happy to have something more modern that also has built-in KISS. Straight to a Raspberry Pi for APRS logging and monitoring.

So much more to learn and play with!

I'm apparently a moron who can't figure out the FCC website for filing for an amateur radio club (605-C). I already have an FRN and account with CORES. I'm trying to file the 605-C for a new club.

The FCC Form 605 website says "All applications are now required to be filed electronically, click Online Filing". So I click Online Filing. I login. I select NEW.

However, under Select Service, I'm stuck. Their own help documentation says I want "HA - Amateur Radio". BUT THERE IS NO "HA" IN THE DROP DOWN!

What the hell?!

I posted about Parley the other day. Federated chat that's compatible with regular IRC clients. I'm running my own test instance now, which is linked up with the official server and the rest of the testers.

https://parley.mauve.haus/

If you want to try it out, hit me up and I'll make you an account. You can then create a token through the web under settings and use that as a password to connect via any IRC client you wish.

I freaking LOVE IT!

Do you know anyone in Nebraska who worked for Union Pacific in the '70s–90s or is a ham radio or vintage computing enthusiast? I'm following leads on Teletype equipment used there.

Boosts appreciated.

Upgraded the 4.5ft U/VHF antenna to a 17 footer. It still looks insane to me. It’s so damn tall!

I already made my new record for a simplex contact. I can’t wait for South Side Simplex on Tuesday!

Oh, okay. I guess I won't do anything on the FCC website today.

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp" on this server.

My wife has decided to make the cat a cozy spot on her desk while she works. Apparently this is how you get the cat to not sleep on your keyboard.

I’m headed to Houston Texas for the day to attend Houston Bsides! You can follow my drive there on APRS by tracking one of my K0MVH-? SSIDs. I forget which.

Any #HamRadio and #AmateurRadio nerds have recommendations on a DIY kit for a CW oscillator? Just something I can more easily echo back to myself while practicing. I’d like to build my own. I’m debating even designing my own since it should be a fairly simple circuit.

For everyone who made a big stink about #Discord age verification and then did nothing…

It’s coming.

I moved my personal Discord to #selfhosted Zulip, cancelled my Nitro subscription, and started deleting my old posts/data via the API.

How have you reacted?

Welp, Mouser just lost my business.

"Please enable JS and disable any ad blocker".

It's just a blank white page with that message.

Mmm, #PacketRadio! Thanks to my TH-D74, B.B. Link bluetooth dongle, and the Packet Commander app, I’m all setup and connected to the UTBBS (KA5D-1)!

I’m working out the specifics for being able to run a dedicated node for myself. I’m not sure on what band yet. All I know is that I’m going to need more antennas.

Lots more.

I just found out the B.B. Link Adapter for the Kenwood TH-D74/75 is now discontinued. Glad I got one when I did! Wish I had grabbed a spare.

Our first vet visit went very well. She was sweet as always and picture-perfect.
