How to speak to AI

Am I easily led? I don't know.

Does @tomroberts and @Kitty mentioning Gojira make me want to listen to Gojira? Absolutely.

Am I now listening to The Way Of All Flesh by Gojira? I certainly am.

Hey, @EUCommission, fuck you too.

On Wednesday, EU Member States approved a change to the GDPR that would put the profit-making interests of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX over European's fundamental right to data protection. According to the approved text, processing personal data “in the context of AI” should automatically be lawful. In particular, Big Tech would be able to use all personal data collected over the past decades with virtually no restrictions, as long as this happens “in the context” of AI. Schrems: “Under the agreed text, the profits of AI companies would typically trump European’s fundamental right to privacy. This is nothing but a digital expropriation of Europeans.”

It's funny, staind are a band from my youth (I'm old ;) but I never listened to them back then.

However I discovered them fairly recently and thought 'oh another korn ripoff from back then' but decided to give them a go.

And that judgment was TOTALLY wrong. They're incredible.

They're about as close an example of 'a band that sings to and about me' as I can find.

And hearing somebody sing my experience matters as much at 45 as it did at 15...

@ffmancera @ljs @monsieuricon Brazilian coffee has this unique flavor due to the amount of spider webs around the coffee plants. It’s quite special ☺️

The band recorded their debut album, Muukalainen puhuu, in 2008, in Salo's family cabin.

I tried to get Linus Clawvalds interested in his signed picture from @torvalds and frankly, he didn't seem very impressed, sorry human Linus!

Another knock on effect of the schloppen (and yes I talk about it a lot, but it's impacting a lot) I've noticed is a marked downswing in 'casual reviewers'.

Now those of us who feel obligated (not due to workplace pressure - but genuine feelings of duty towards the project) - have even heavily workload as a result.

And meanwhile you get people attacking you for explaining the situation in clear terms.

It's really a crap situation where those doing harm don't get punished, and those who are trying to do their best for the project get shat on.

It's easy to sit on a cloud and judge when you don't have to actually make the decisions.
