#Anthropic are boasting about how they make so much code, GIT is no longer suitable as a version control system, and they had to create their own. They write stuff to impress with large numbers, and I get that these might appeal to management that love to see numbers get higher and higher, but please, stop to think about what this actually means...
"In May 2026, Anthropic averaged around 2,500 code changes merged per day; as of September, we merged over 30,000 per day." ... "The history of our main branch alone is almost 100 GB, and a compressed working copy is over 25 GB."
A version control system is a slightly bad name, it keeps tracks of changes in code, not just differences between "released versions". The point is to see what changed, when it changed, who changed it, etc. It's not just a bucket to store things and pull from when needed.
The entire point is gone. No one can validate, or relate to this amount of changes. You create a garbage pile that no one ever wants to look at.
