Heard from my niece in Pensacola. They are safe! Power is out, cellphone connectivity is spotty. House is fine, some trees down. They will be trying to get to my brother's home to check on him.
Hoping those whi stayed have the best possible outcomes.
Grandson reading "A Fly Went By" to me. 🥰
Good morning!
Trying to sip my coffee and Mr L is decorating for Halloween. So rude. Our doing energy hasn't been synchronized in years.
Grandson is apparently in trouble again. Teacher called his dad and claims he is not doing his work. He has been excitedly telling us about some if the work and how some tasks count as 2 works, so he did 13 one day (8 are required each day). Parent's punish without evidence. 😐
So, grandson was not allowed tv or screen time. So we did:
I gave him some comforting
Apple picking with grandpa
Pick from 2 options for supper
Played a guess who game and
Began to decorate for Halloween
You all, he still said he was "bored"...
Bath time
Sketch pad (drew vampire)
Rolled a big exercise ball around living room
#Dinner
I cooked up an eggplant and pasta dish for dinner. Mr L is happy (even though he considers it to be lacking a key ingredient...meat. He'll survive.)
Meant to post this last night as a #Today post.
Oops.
My Saturday:
Cooked lentil pilaf (froze half)
Made picked beets (refrigerator style, 1st time)
Laundry (always more)
Dishes (sigh)
Shoe shopping with husband (I could post a rant on the shoe industry and my size 5 US feet)
Grocery shopping - kind of
Tried to get some reading in and failed (which means, I fell asleep around the 4th paragraph)
Watched my Brewers win again. 💙
I can play hot wheels for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once we hit 20 to 30 minutes, I will need assistance to get off the floor.
Also, 8yo is so bossy when playing.
Current weather: 🌩⚡️⚡️⚡️🌩🌩⛈️⛈️⛈️
Okay, that bolt of lightning startled me.
Suddenly realizing how big the windows in my office are.
Also, to the smartass (coworker) who confidently told me the radar they looked at didn't show the storms I saw on the morning news this morning....you're full of shit.
Does it feel like it's raining spiders as you walk out the door this morning?
Weather person just explained that the spiders are more active this time of year. Their food supply is plentiful, they're at their maximum size and it's their mating season.
This was to explain why she had a flyswatter in her hand - using it to clear the space in front of her so she doesn't walk into a spiderweb. 🕸🕷
I have picked the beans. Which is my least favorite gardening task. Long sleeves and gloves are required or I get a rash from the leaves.
Now my back is complaining. So, before we do anything with the beans, I need to let it rest a bit. #Garden #vegetables

We got some big birds wandering through the yards across the street.
Good rainy morning. 🌧
The grass is starting to re-awaken and green up again. The trees are sighing in relief. And gardeners are excited to have a little relief from their growing waterworks bill.
I have lots to get done and haven't figured out what's first...so, coffee sipping and thinking about what's next is step one. 🤔 Oh, it's step two, because I chose to check in on the fediverse first.
Gotta see the good morning announcements. Morning seems less fulfilling without them.
Whether you're slacking or choking, have a happy Saturday/caturday!
Today I have an appointment for a blood draw in just over an hour. I need to water the gardens this morning, too (smoke expected back around 3pm).
Looks like I need to grocery shop.
Plenty of laundry to do, too.
I want to finish the book I've been reading.
My exciting life.
Back home. It's so nice!
8yo did really well.
I killed noone (yay, me!)
The boys (8 and Mr L) swam every evening.
This toot is long (especially for me).
8 survived the visits with Mr L's 91yo aunt, who has a cat. He loves cats, he is allergic. And sitting around listening to a 91yo talk is super boring for an active kid. Especially, when 91 has Opinions. Never had kids, clearly doesn't understand them.
While staying near 91, we took 8 to a gem mining place (yep, tourist trap thing) that also had goat feeding and a dangerous looking wood play equipment (obstacle course?) thing. He really liked it.
On the way home, we did stopped in Gatlinburg - aquarium and mountaintop tourist park with glass bottom gondolas to go up and down. More deadly looking play structures for children. Sent 8yo's mom video of him bouncing on a rope trampoline. She said it looked dangerous. Apparently, dangerous = fun for kids in TN.
Indianapolis was nice. 8 was excited that we were along the canal. "It's like Venice!"
We let him steer the Swan pedal boat 😬 He got pretty good by the end.
Indianapolis zoo was nice. I have determined Mr L & I need more conditioning. Especially, if we plan to go to a zoo and then drive 6 or more hours afterward.
I'm still tired. 8's parents picked him up like our usual Friday nights.
Happy Saturday! 🤗🤗🥰🥰
Good morning.
Wake up was rough this morning.
Drifted right off after the alarm was shut off and woke with a start about 30 minutes later.
Having a coffee and gonna scroll to get my brain above barely functioning mode.

Inmates helping butterflies. Which, I hope helps them too.

Grandson has informed us that he is NOT tired or cranky after his first day of zoo camp. In an angry, tired, and cranky voice.
#grandparents #grandchildren
Mr L has a new toy.
We went for pizza at a sports bar & grill last night with the grandson. The pizza was good. The place was too loud for me. Mr L chose to have a membership there.
For Father's Day, they gave him a multi-tool.
It's a flashlight, laser, lighter (blue flame butane), emergency window breaker, with powerful magnets on the side. He is very happy with it. 🙄
Doing better today.
Will begin working with a neutral coworker to improve some sections of our data that the time crunch kept me from cleaning up before we moved systems.
Today's goal: no contact with the bully in the group who should just leave because they are unwilling to adapt to, or learn, how the new system works. (Instead, they bully and take over discussions to twist towards what they want. And that's with the department head in the always remote meeting.)
Well, time to head to the officd.
Checked on our little berry patch tonight.
