shamelessly stolen from slack so that I can post with the comment: "lmao"

I learned today that POSIX specifies a tool designed to assist you in reviewing & modifying LLM-generated code. In typical Unix fashion, they shortened "reviewing & modifying" to just two letters:

$ rm code.rs

It even has command-line options to [r]ecursively [f]ix whole directories of LLM-generated code:

$ rm -rf project/

Super Mario Bros finally released for the #SEGA #MasterSystem - and it's even better than what you could imagine!!! 🤩

Go check out the *incredible* work done by 'Lack of Track' and friends. 👏

Playing with AVX-512 for the first time.

It's kinda cool you don't need a movemask instruction anymore because comparison instructions already give you a 64-bit mask in a scalar register!

become ungovernable

LSPs are also more efficient since I last posted about them. By default they were using chunked encoding, which would send TCP fragments for every text piece in the response, but now buffers the output and sends it in one go. On localhost, this doubled the throughput.

Another advantage is to be able to parse response headers and whatnot, although I personally don't quite like the way that's defined in CivetWeb's API. It's too "CGI script I used to write in the 90s" for me.

(I initially chose to implement CivetWeb's API because I noticed that PiHole uses it for its dashboard, and I wanted to try using Lwan to power it instead. I'm not sure if I still want that, so it's possible to have better APIs that play with the way Lwan is structured.)

This is similar to the LWAN_LUA_METHOD() macro that extends the request metatables, but both have been revamped to be simpler under the hood (to e.g. not require a copy of all the luaL_Reg entries just so a sentinel can be added).

With LSPs, it's now even possible to add some additional Lua code, so one can create a nicer API on top of some primitives written in C.

Now I just need to write some applications to actually design good APIs. I might even depart from CivetWeb's APIs.

I gave Lwan some love in its Lua support. With some macro crimes, it's now possible to define new libraries in the Lua environment without a lot of boring boilerplate.

For instance, to define a new lib:

LWAN_LUA_LIB(haiku)

And then to define a function:

LWAN_LUA_LIB_FUNCTION(haiku, is_computer_on)
{
lua_pushboolean(L, 1);
return 1;
}

Lwan.haiku.is_computer_on() will be available in all Lua environments. You can do this outside Lwan, in your user code, too!

Just pushed support for Lua Server Pages to Lwan. It's somewhat compatible with CivetWeb's implementation of it, although with some caveats that may or may not be addressed in the future. It builds on top of the pre-existing Lua scripting feature in Lwan, and as such, it's quite efficient.

Just one step further in world dominance with the LLLL stack :P

It's that time of the year again: do I keep smolsite.zip or let it expire?

"How come there's no Straight Pride? Straight people are under attack too!"

You know what, buddy, as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, let me be the first to tell you - you go ahead and FLY THAT FLAG.

For every young straight man thrown out of his house by a screaming parent saying "no son of mine is going to be a fucking hetero" you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every grieving widow not allowed to visit her husband on his death bed because she's "not family", you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every LGBTQ person who got acquitted of a murder charge because they were "hetero tricked" and panicked, you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every young man who was beaten within an inch of his life, gang raped, and left to die tied to a fence post for the sin of wearing pants to school, you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every straight friend, lover, and acquaintance you know who died slowly of a curable disease that the government labelled "God's punishment on straights" rather than actually trying to research a cure for, you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every straight woman serving a prison sentence for holding the hand of her boyfriend in public, you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every little boy who had to sit through sermon after hateful sermon every Sunday of his childhood demonizing straight people as abominations, you FLY THAT FLAG.

For every cishet person who has been made to feel like it was better to be dead than straight, you FLY THAT FLAG.

You FLY THAT FLAG loud, and proud, and you never ever let anyone tell you that your love, or your existence is wrong. Because like you said, Straight people are under attack in EXACTLY THE SAME WAY as LGBTQIA+ people have been, on a daily basis, for decades. Right?

Right?

i use arch btw

Fwiw, computer people are starting to sound like climate scientists started to sound 5-6 years ago. You know, that whole "yeah whatever I fucking told you and you fucked around so you're all gonna find out - I'm going to get ice cream because NOTHING fucking matters anymore and we're all doomed."

That.

I think I understand why AI is SOCIALLY and ECONOMICALLY a fucking time bomb - but they understand why it's TECHNICALLY a time bomb too. And I don't like how dead man walking they all sound...

Do I know anyone that can help me get an account in the GCC Bugzilla? (I've sent an email to the address they mentioned and I've gotten no reply yet.)

The hash table now does lazy, in-place rehashing. It was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be: https://github.com/lpereira/lwan/commit/35da5a331e16f159c07d018c92d0d18ed7c173c8

I now need to write a follow-up post.

Just blogged: a new hash table for #lwan

(I even drew diagrams! I'm usually too lazy to fight pikchr or even open drawio.)
